F30 Alarm activation - Sound

Hi all,

This is my first BMW, so I'm not sure if this is something standard with all BMs.

When locking the car with the remote/FOB, does it always do so silently? Only flashing the hazards and with no audible sound? Can't remember seeing anything to set in the iDrive system.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Cheers,
J

Hi buddy

Normally it does lock silently with just the hazards flashing, no noise from the siren when locking and unlocking

The only car I remember beeping audibly everytime you lock/unlock was a VW GTi.

I do know US spec BMWs beep though.

Everything beeps in the US:fencelook:

Is there no way to activate the sound? it was very helpful for me on my e90 when I needed to check if the car was locked from inside the house...

It can be coded in if you can find a dealer who knows how/ is prepared to.

Just don't be too OCD about pressing the lock button when locking the car as I've seen a lot of people are! because pushing it more than once in quick succession deactivates the interior motion sensor and the tilt sensor. 10 sec or so after locking the car then you can push it as much as you want, will just turn on the interior lights.

yep, silently like a calm sedate German sedan, not noisy like a Toyota that hoots at you for locking it

Seems like a lot of coding is taking place on the Beemers.. Would be nice to code mine to a M3.:roflol::biglol:

I don't think it hoots anymore. I do know that the Mercs do give a beep when locking the car.
It could be a coding issue as well, I am sure the dealer could code it so that s quick beep happens when you lock the car?
