I'm sure the diesels will follow shortly after launch. Would be awesome with the new 8 speed auto boxes too.

what i dont understand is the 335i is twin turbo, the new m will be a six with twin turbo,so wont it be the same motor?

I personally doubt that it will share much, if anything from the N54 platform. They have filed a patent for a V6 (possibily with the tri-turbo that San mentioned), as well as just recently, an electric turbo system (http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=597327)
So who knows.. however, If history and heritage is anything to go by then we'll be blown away (no pun) and they'll produce yet another benchmark motor which often leaves critics silent or grasping for straws.

that guys voice seriously got to me :yuck:

I was not wowed by the interior design i prefer designs that are cleaner and simple... but then again they need to integrate alot of toys into the design so it makes it cluttered...

to me the e46 still has the best looking interior in any 3 series i would have loved it they did an updated version of it for this car :)

With all the Apple references, I was seriously waiting for him to say something clever like, it's an iMSport! :nonono:

Im also looking forward to the 328i... i rekon the 180kw on the F30 will be just as quick as the E90 335i... with its additional weight saving etc...

Look forward to the 8spd DCT also and 4cyc consumption

BUt no 6 cylinder tone. :nonono: I know they can work magic with the exhaust but I dont know. WIll be epic though, thats for sure....

As for the patent that was filed, I think that was more for the sake fo them having it then them using it. The V8 works on the same principle, and Merc uses V6's. So I think just to piss them off they filed all the patents possible on both the motors so they have exclusive rights. I think the straight will still be used. I hope so

nope the f10 is a four cylinder with twin turbos.
form what i gather, its the first shipment into the country

Ah, okay, well will give us chance to sample this new engine until the new 3 Series arrives. Checked BMW site - still has the 528i listed as using the 3.0l I6 engine...

Did it sound very different to your I6? From the YouTube vids that I have seen featuring this new twin turbo I4 - has quite a distinct sound. But idling maybe not as easy to pick up compared to if the engine is revved a bit. Other than opening the bonnet and taking a look, not sure of any other way to identify what it is... I'm all for embracing this new BMW twin turbo technology, but the NA I6's will be missed!!!

I'm looking forward to the new tech. While I would miss the depth of the I6, the new engines don't sound half bad. MUCH better than the 2L Audi's and VW's.
