Found out today that the demo unit at the launch cut out several times due to a loose earth wire on the gearbox! Just wondering if this car was a Friday Job?

I see you have a 330d and a 335? How about some comparisons between the two.
Always wonder how similar the performance would be, and you owning both would know first hand how much different they are

It is quite difficult to directly compare the two, as they require a different kind of driving style.
My 335 is an auto where the 330d is a manual 6 speed. The 335 feels very smooth in overtaking on say from a low 110 to past 180 when passing a truck, the 330d on the other hand is torq driven, at certain stages of accelleration the 330d is kicking the ass of the 335, thats a fact ,(Both in Stock form!!of course).
When pushing hard, you would seldom touch even 4500rpm with the 330d, at those rpms you are allready well over 200, where the 335 you get upset when the rev limiter kicks in as that sound is just addictive and it pulls all the way up to heavenly speeds!

The 330d is of course a lot better on fuel consumption, especially around the city, thats why i use it for my daily ride.
But it is very difficult to choose, I love both!!
As for the new 335i, can't wait to get one!

thanks bossman i think if the 330d catches the 335i in the wrong rpm the 335i will have a hard time.
Both excellent choices btw

I can believe that the diesel gives the 335i a run for its money... Here is an interesting "fact"... guys at the dealer told me that the 320d wouldn't be far behind the M3 (in terms of time) when asked to race from Durban City to say Gateway Umhlanga - plus minus 25km with a decent freeway section.

The further the distance the closer it will be as the M3 will have to stop for petrol and the diesel will....not.

I find that hard to believe. If you had 2 hopeless drivers behind the wheel, then there just might be a chance. But if you had above average drivers....No way. 135kw vs 309kw????
