F30 328i M Performance Exhaust Question

I finally took the plunge and purchased the M Performance Exhaust for my F30 328i. Ordered it from BMW SMD Canal Walk, I was quoted 10 working days delivery time from Germany but it got here in 4 :coolShake:

I took the car in today for fitment, it was fitted but I got a call from my Service Manager explaining that it was fitted and the exhaust is fastened with the clamps provided, what she recommends is to send the vehicle to Supa Quick to have the exhaust welded into place instead of using the clamps. Has anyone here had to do this or have any advice for me? Surely the included clamps are meant for the exhaust? The service manager told me it is probably not safe to just have the clamps on.

Any advice would be appreciated. :praise:

Nope, didnt have to weld mine on my 328 or M135... not sure what she is on about.

Thanks Max, All installation videos also say nothing about welding. She says they highly advise the welding / tacking of the exhaust. In any event if they do then they should pay for it!

Did you find out why they advise this?

Use as Is...and if you do weld, when you need to claim from warranty that may become an issue as it is "bolt on"

Thanks for the input. All the Service lady said is that they recommend I get it welded on at Super Quick instead of just having the clamp. I don't understand why they would advise that, as it comes with the clamp as designed. I will leave it clamped and tell them that. I am picking her up at 3pm, cant wait!!! :skit:

I know guys in Gauteng has been advised to tac on the M Performance Tips as there was a couple of cases where those were stolen.

That aside, how much do you love the car now? I saw my 328 in traffic the other day, had a quick chat to the owner and when he accelerated away i had a mangasm! Sounds really really nice!

Yes use clamps as is, if you want to revert back to the stock set-up you just clamp in the original exhaust.

Mine is just clamped, what i did was spot weld tips as they easy to remove and arent very cheap. Just one small spot on each.

Unless they meant the actual tips, if so its due to theft

If Akra, Remus, ACS etc etc all use clamps for their systems, there is clearly no issue with it. The exhaust is held on by hangers in any case.

Dont be disappointed when you collect the car and can hardly notice a difference.
The more km's you do, the sound will become exquisite.

Thanks guys, the exhaust sounds amazing :ty: Was a bit quiet when I pulled away but when I got playing it sounds awesome. The upshifts are crazy, farts even better than a DSG! I drove around the block so many times I finished R300 petrol :roflol: This morning on cold start it sounded so evil, I love it! Interested to see if there will be a sound difference as the carbon builds up, etc!

Glad you enjoying the car! Missing mine so much

Also try this, put your car in Eco mode and then when coasting to a stop downshift through the gears with the windows open. Mine use to pop like crazy!

Glad to hear you enjoying it bro, my one bud did the MPE on his F30 335i. It sounded wild and it got even better as he piled on the mileage!

You in for a treat bro! Enjoy!
