OK so car has done run in 1000km and time to log.
First run was done auto sport+
Second run manual sport+
Comparison with e90 n54 335i manual row 3.
..............FIRST.....................SECOND...............COMPARISON
60ft........2.3.....43km/h.............2.05.....43..........2.5.......42
1/8.........8.95...126km/h...........9.0.......129........9.0......129
1/4........13.89..161km/h..........13.85....161........14.1.....160
1km.......25.1....206km/h.........25.15.....209........24.8.....215
0-100.......5.9............................5.85.....................6.2
800mts.............195km/h..............196km/h...........201km/h
100-200.............16.8......................16.7...................15.9

The F30 328i is no match for the F30 335i but can hold it's own against a standard E90 335i manual on the quarter mile.Thereafter the bigger cubes come into play.
Once again the 8 speed auto makes this 2litre 180kw car into a very capable performer.

thanks for the info Joe, a bit surprised by the figures, but thats the point of datalogging, to remove all assumptions.

we should see the true capabilities in a few years time when the m5's and m6 are runnng i6 twin turbos

Wow Im quite amazed that its 1/4 mile is faster than a 335i, Its actually faster than the F30 330d tooo :praise:

The gearbox really does make a huge difference it seems. Thanks for the info/effort/abuse of your car to satisfy our curiosity!

I would love to see some 330d F30 data logging figures or have some already been posted?

Really is impressive.

Just to prove a point, what is the rpm differentiation between the car in full auto and you doing so manually?

Remember that is the old E90 335i.This does not come close to the New F30 335i.

Been there done it, will post the figures later on today.

Bliksem! Those are amazing figures:thumbs:

Did you use launch control?
I brake boosted. On auto sport+ i could get to about 1700rpm before releasing the brake. On manual setting sport + i was able to get 2000rpm quite easily.

When the car is in full auto i get the feeling the car has gone over it's peak power because it revs up to 7000rpm before changing. It's because of that feeling i did a second run so i could change manually where i could feel the higher rpm a waste.
On the manual run i could brake boost a bit higher for the pull-off but thereafter it was a case of changing gear at 6200 rpm. Less strain on the car with the almost same ,and, even better results.
The amount of torque this car has coupled to the 19" 255/35/19 makes for a car that gets off the line very quickly without wheelspin. This gives the excellent 60ft time and once you have that, the 1/4 mile time becomes a good one.

I know, Just surprised that the F30 328i could pull that well against the N54
There are two things that play a part between the E90 range and the F30 range.
Firstly the 8speed auto fitted in the new cars is just so much faster on change and the ratio's get you off the line. This gearbox fitted to an E90 would make those car's so much faster and lighter on fuel.
The second thing, and most people are not aware of this, is that with the ECU on the F30 the boost pressure rises to give you the same power at altitude as at sealevel and that has been set by parameters.Where the E90 335i had a boost pressure at the intake manifold of 0.7bar the F30 335I achieves 0.968 bar at my altitude.
With the atmosphere air density being thinner at altitude the turbo will spin faster but because your car has less resistance from frontal air density our car's can now be just as fast at altitude as at the coast.

My F30 328i is only doing 11000km but on a 1,5km stretch, i took it off the clock. ***edited by mod***.

Glad to hear the performance is so close to the claimed figures
TwinPower Turbo FTW!!!

Hi Sash which figures were a surprise maybe i can shed a bit more light.

a few things came to my mind when seeing the figures, but I think you have answered all of them
-firstly was just the overall performance over a 335i, which is rated about 30odd kw more than the 328i.
-Also the age old statement., no replacement for displacement
-the launch and the gear change is what makes the 328i stand out, once that is out of the way the 335i is able to claw back.

So true about displacement.Check out these numbers.

................f30 328i....e90335i....f30 330d....F30330d PPK...F30 335i......F30 335i PnP

80-120..........4.1..........3.3...........3.1................2.9.............2.7...............2.4
100-200.......16.8........15.9..........16.8..............16.5...........14.0.............12.2
1km speed...209km/h..215km/h...209km/h.......210km/h.....225km/h.......231km/h

As Bernard also mentioned it's a lot easier maker more power on the bigger motors.I put on a plug and play on the F30 for a test and that picked up the KM speed to 231km/h.The diesels also are best kept standard IMO.With 25k spent on the F30 330d i only picked up 1km/hr on the KM!
