My E90 335i is currently staying overnight at BMW Menlyn while it awaits a new waterpump (which decided to give up the ghost a day after the 50k service - very strange). So they lent me an F30 320i manual for the night. I had read great things about the 320i, but I still had my reservations.

Stepping out of the 335i into a 320i should have been very disappointing, but it wasn't!! It has more than enough power for the daily commute, and it doesn't sound half bad. The manual is nice and notchy and the torque low-down really makes it a joy to drive. It's truly an amazing car, way way better than the E90 320i.

I'll take some pics tomorrow. It's a sapphire black sportline with red seats and xenons - it really stands out!

I took one for a test drive when my e90 320d was in for service, so i drove an auto, as mine is auto, to compare.
Man was i surprised, it felt very similar to my diesel at low revs, it had lots of torque.
Going uphill in town, rather steep, it pulled very well at low speed.
And it cost less than a diesel, so i think it will give the diesels a run for its money in new car sales as it is light on petrol aswell if looking at the specs.

Might just change my 330 for one :fencelook: Or a 328, if it can justify the price difference.

Drove the 320i, felt more comfortable moving between traffic than my E90 330i
It might not be able to compete top end, but around town & highways it is superb :inlove:

Few things can beat the feeling of dropping down to 3rd, releasing the clutch & hearing/feeling the straight 6... but those new sport 8spds are impressive

I found that exactly the first time I drove one.
Also got a F30 320i from Menlyn BMW. Seems they on top of their game when it comes to service.

As some of you know, my e46 was side swiped and while i wait for my bumper from Germany:bangdesk: I have a F30 320i as a replacement car. The power is amazing compared to the E90 320i as that was a huge let Down! I do miss my diesel with its awesome torque:=): a trade for the F30.....? Nah i still and always will love my E46:inlove:

Well I'm back in my E90, and after driving the F30 for 2 days I realized how different the 2 models are. The steering is much lighter in the F30 compared to the E90 - not sure if I like it. I feel much more distant from the road in the F30 than the E90. Also, the F30 feels much bigger than the E90. I'm used to setting the driver's seat to its lowest setting in the E90 to keep my head from brushing against the roof, not so in the F30. One drawback of the size (and the bulging bonnet) is it's more difficult to park. Nevertheless, this is something that can easily be rectified by speccing front PDC (which my car didn't have).

All in all, the F30 is an amazing car and the 320i has an amazing engine. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a comfortable daily driver.

F30 320i is a major upgrade from the E90 320i

8speed Auto box added to it just made perfect sense for all types of driving.

At first before I bought mine I was also saying hell no not a 320i, wanted the 328i but after driving it, it just made more sense to have the F30 320i.

BMW seriously impressed me with its F30 2.0T

:bravo:
