Hey Bro, I have recently done the downpipe on my car. It doesn't smoke that much. WRT the gearbox, before I fitted the downpipe, I was making 187wkw and 435nm. Not sure now after the Dp. Car feels strong and so far no issues.

Oh wow you pushing serious kw there buddy and thanks for that info on the dp, it's definitely my next move.
Still running on software remap alone and i'm loving it.

Did you only do dp and software or have you done other upgrades too?

Hey Bro, Just software and DP.

I've taken the 320d in for downpipe but there's something which they quoted me on and I'd like to know if it's necessary, egr / dpf delete for R1000. Is this something necessary in this model of the vehicle and what are the consequences if I don't do it?
They've charged R3000 for dpf removal & they'll be loading new file for remap.

Most tuners do not charge to write out the egr, open the vains etc on the map..... Your car does certainly did not have a dpf but instead a cat which requires no modification to the map from my experience.

Writing out the egr on the map is a big win, the function of the egr is make the car re-use it's own waste, however with the egr off and a dp installed you can expect a bit more smoke.

Was the dp 304 ss? Would be nice to see some dyno numbers soon :smilebounce:

I don't know what a 304 ss is. Thanks for clarifying that, so if I don't do the egr delete now does it mean I'm still fine? All I want is a dp and revised software remap and definitely no errors/engine light showing.
I read somewhere that after dp and cat/dpf removal, the engine may go into limp mode, so I thought egr delete is meant to avoid such.

304 stainless steel, the material used to fabricate the dp.... You should not be getting any errors as the sensor sits on the turbo itself....

The egr delete is a must, not only will the car be slightly more economical, it will also run healthier in the long run...

Oh yes I'm getting stainless steel dp, well in that case then I guess I must get the egr delete done as well. I'll definitely give an update on the numbers afterwards

@Boost-GP - did you drop a stage 2 on your car?

Planning to go the same route with mine but first going to get my maintenance checks out of the way before taking the car through to xcede

My X1 2.0d is running 190kw and 440nm (Flywheel Power via 4wd) and barely smokes at all, and I had a straight pipe exhaust with no boxes etc for about 10 000km.

What were the straight pipes like, man?

Too loud?

They were superb but my car has the twin turbo Motor an the sound as the second turbo kicked in was just too much.

Currently running the stock rear box, on an otherwise straight 63mm and it’s perfection!

Straight pipes don’t drone and under normal driving it’s quite normal.

Got the car back today and the dp is fitted, no errors so far, can't really notice that huge difference because I had software before dp but it does feel a little aggressive than before :cartel:

Smoking was my biggest worry but hey, that's not an issue, only in hard acceleration and you can only notice it from outside & not when you're driving. The tone changed even on idle but you can hear it better on hard acceleration.

X1 2.0d with a two turbo chargers? Did you mod the car to fit the second turbo? Can you show us the engine bay of your X1, This I will only believe if I see it myself :fencelook:

Less assumptions folks.

N47S Motor, Twin sequential turbo, limited run the 23d Xdrive X1. The smaller snail boosts the bigger snail, with full power switch over at around 2800-3000rpm to the bigger turbo.

Its a gem of a motor - If you still insist on a photo I will happily strip the engine bay for you, given I have done it several times to service the smaller turbo actuator which has a habit of becoming sticky after the engine has been submerged in some mud.

I'm not sure if I really like the exhaust sound but well, I must just get used to it, but I'm happy with the benefits on the turbo (& the engine).
it seems like my fuel consumption is a bit high, unless the engine still needs time to adjust after sw & dp.
Makes me feel like sw alone was a way to go but I guess it's still early to make such conclusion.

You said 2.0d initially not 2.3d

Dont be silly, its still a 2.0d, still N47 derived, its not a 2.3L, why would I say anything otherwise? Also, you said "who is bluffing you", it seems irrespective of what I wrote you didn't seem to believe BMW put a twin turbo in a X1. My apologies for informing you otherwise.

is your X1 a 2.0d or 2.3d? if its a 2.0d then it only has one twin scroll turbo charger. I'm not sure about the 2.3d because I have never seen one here in SA
