I spend R1000 for oil service on my f30 320d
Oil and filter from bmw dealer
Labour=DIY

if its a high mileage car, you can DIY, problem is the input of service record onto the car digital service log, think this is applicable to F series upwards.

With the older cars that uses a service book, you could easily annotate it.

How can one input the service record if doing oil change themselves ?

Really impressed with the workshop, the service received and the final price.
NB: All original BMW Parts used, BMW Oil etc.
Would definitely recommend Ross Duncan Auto to all BMW owners (out of plan) near the Midrand Area

3. Replace Aircon would be the pollen filter no?

To be fair they do need to reset all service schedules and cover the cost of the time, expertise and scanner tool.

I dont know , R450 seems steep to me for resetting the CBS , you dont need to plug it in to a tool , its done on the car .

Manual CBS Reset Steps.

  1. Switch ignition on.
  2. Press trip distance reset button for 10 seconds until 1st service job appears
  3. press again if 2 jobs require resetting.
  4. if a reset is possible it will read as ‘Reset Executable’
  5. Start by pressing the Button for 3 seconds.
  6. Confirm by pressing reset button again for 3 seconds.
All of that can not be worth R450

Yeah, I wouldnt pay to get the service indicator reset...that said, bmw usually charge (but its factored into their pricing...so you dont actually have a choice) - besides with servicing at bmw - they update the history on the iDrive.

So if 3rd parties charge R450 to update the iDrive - then that would make sense as well.

Oil service is not bad at all at the dealerships. Air intake filter is easy DIY and same goes for cabin filter. Oil service and fuel filter is done at the dealer to keep the record for the next owner.
