Hi All

About a week ago my car started making a whistling sound between 100 and 130 km/h.

As soon as you take your foot off the throttle the whistle goes away but as soon as you accelerate again the whistle is there.

I have checked for leaks around the turbo but cant seem to see anything.

Any ideas what it might be?

Could be a boost pipe leak, not necessarily the turbo itself. Sometimes all that is needed is an O ring change on the boost pipe.

Thanks for the reply, I had a look and all seems ok.

I drove it again on the highway and it almost sounded like it was coming from the rear.

Could it be wheel bearings?

I recently had a funny noise on my 2011 F25 X3 30d at about exactly 81/82kph and it turned out to be rear wheel bearings. First we did the one wheel and then had to do the other one as well as only then did the noise stop. I assume we did the wrong one the first time but the noise was more pronounced when turning to that side so we assumed it was the left rear bearing. We got the bearings from Masterparts as the original BMW ones are much more expensive. Not saying that this is your problem as well but just my 2c's
