You need to get the codes read, your alternator could be the issue. Does the car have a tracker on it?

Most tracker setups these days have two units, if the car was bought used there is a very good chance that the previous owners tracker is on the car, after two years the back-up battery for the tracker dies and it starts draining the cars battery...

When I read the codes - it just has about 40 low voltage warnings - but nothing else. So not possible to check root cause.

But good idea to check the tracker. Have cartrack at the momoent - maybe that's doing it! No clue about whether a prior tracker is still installed, as it was bought from BMW used.

Your best bet is to track the previous owner down....and enquire

I experience the issue on a few of the cars I bought used, my previous car had 4 units on there :blueCry:

Quick update, so yesterday I got a brand new OEM battery from Battery Centre Randburg. R3767 inc VAT and fitment.

This is a great price, considering it is full OEM (as they supply BMW), and it is the full spec 90Ah and 900CCA 658 AGM battery.

I did see however, that the 'old' battery was from 2015, so will need to keep an eye on how long this one lasts.

Decided to buy one of these! Will install once I am back home... and see how useful it really is... but hopefully it will help show any problems with the battery earlier rather than later! (got one for the X3 and one for the Z4 while I was at it)...

Now that I am back, I installed them... and here's the quick first view...

Installed on the X3 and the Z4...

I've been playing around, and activated the setting that also shows Temp and Voltage...

So far I like it!

And it showed how a 2 week hiatus affects the Z's battery!
