F20 - out of motorplan

Any known issues with the cars?

Have an opportunity to purchase a 2013 118i for a steal of a price...I know the history of the car since it had 950km on it...long story short, car was bought at an auction, insurance paid out thinking the motor was stuffed, after going through a water patch...buddy of mine changed some elec module on the car and it started immediately and has been running perfectly since. Currently on about 30k km. Apparently cannot get m/plan reinstated...car is serviced at an independent

Sounds dodgy hey. Motorplan was removed for a reason, and I would first find out that reason before making a decision. If the car overheated at all this is a bad choice (Waterpatch).

Nope, car just refused to start after hitting a water patch.. Motorplan cancelled when the car was written off by the insurance along the lines of hydrolock...no overheating...I know the guy(owner) that bought the car from the auction and know the mechanic that fixed it(just replaced an electronic module). Car has been running perfectly since 950km on the clock until now with 30 000km. I drove the car a few times and it goes perfectly. The guy is in a spot of trouble and needs to sell. My issue if more about future known problems with these cars.

Do not think there are as much known issues yet. I would seriously check out the vin at bmw myself and the registration number with metro. Resale will be nothing if this is a code3.

Just trying to help you think this through, friends can quickly turn into backstabbers when it comes to money.

Was there exterior damage when it went through the waterpatch? Was the engine actually damaged?

Thanks bud, appreciate the response.
Absolutely no body damage and no engine damage, module was plugged in and the car started...more of a case of the assessors screwing up and paying out due to uneconomical to repair. Car is Code 2(used)...have the papers...will also get the official definition from BMW for cancellation of motorplan.

Fsck dude,

Why you even thinking about this....

Go buy it.

a Hydrolocked motor would literally have bent internals,

Obviously motor is not hydrolocked.

If the car is running well, and is accident free/ie not shoddy workmanship, and you can pick it up for a steal, go and steal it.

Just buy it for the right money, cause your going to need to sell it yet for the right money.

I think its simple, you pretty much made up your mind. If you getting the car at a "steal" of a price, you know the history of the car, the car has low km...etc... then go for it.

I don't think much can go wrong given its low km.

Also what you saying is that the electric module that the mechanic fixed solved the problem and that it has been driving fine for 29000km.

If that is the case, then buy it!
