Hi Guys

how do I locate the drain plug on a F20?
Seems like when I switch on the aircon or when it rains there seems to be water coming in the passenger seat and it literally gets soaked.... please help or advise on how to fix this issue.

Not sure exactly where it is however I would also check the drainage ports jsut below the windscreen cowl, if your parks under or near trees, any debris can be caught up there and eventually clog that...it will lead to the water leaking into the car afterwards. When I bought mine, had the same issue and when I checked those ports, it was stuffed with leaves, twigs etc. cleaned it out and never had the issue again.

Thank you for this info, I’ll have a good look at the window cowl tomorrow and open up the carpet and jack the car to see if I can find anything.

Hi Guys

Just an update on this, after much research on the net I finally found the issue, to confirm I had to to take out the passenger seat & lift the carpet slightly & saw the issue as the coolant was now just spilling inside the passenger seat on even short drives... the Heater core/radiator was leaking. To be sure I drove to a local BMW workshop & they had a look at it for me & also confirmed that the heater core was the issue (Free of charge)

May:

Once that was done I reached out to Dean (S/O for the great service ) @ BMW Midrand for the part & I must say the Forum discount helps.

Now I had two options 1. One I strip the dashboard on my own & refit the part. 2. I find a workshop that can change it for me.

June:

I went with option 2 as I just figured that it looks like a more complicated job for me, If it was my E46 I would have been more than confident lol... so I started looking for quotes from places that do Air Conditioning. Found a local one as I couldn’t drive far with the condition of the car.

Took the car in & 3 days later it was back with the new heater core/radiator fitted, regassed the aircon & they also found a pipe under the turbo that transfers coolant I think that was damaged & changed it for free.

July:

The car now runs great, no steaming & no coolant loss, I shall be observing it as time goes.

Thanks for reading😉
