Alternate option to consider a new F20 120D and spec with BMW performance power kit fitted (+-R18K) = 147KW and 420nm.

Ok my car is on 1100km and is sitting on 12.4l/100km for the entire duration.

My driving has included a little cruising at the speed limit, some hard driving, a lot of urban crawling and cruising, often putting the car in sport and hitting it during them. So basically fairly inefficient driving. But I have used the stop/start function the whole time.

As the engine runs in and with the use of eco pro I believe the car can be a LOT more fuel efficient, if driven the right way.

Top car claims their "real world consumption" was 7.3l on the car they tested. For the sake of contextualizing, the new A3 1.8T quattro they put it up against got 7.7l/100km and while I've got this issue open the 335i Activehybrid got 6.6l/100km.

I would strongly recommend going for the 8 speed auto, as well as benefiting fuel economy it also benefits performance and is incredibly smooth and responsive. The sports auto at R2k more gives you paddles on the steering wheel which are nice, sportier software and a nicer gearlever. Not so sure on the sportier software, the gear lever is nicer but I wouldn't pay money for it, but the paddles are great when setting the car up for a corner!

Hope you got something useful from reading all of this!:thumb:

Sorry a little off topic 12.4l/100km is much higher than I thought. My m135i is at 13.1 and I never ever use Eco pro.
Standstill traffic everyday to work, spirited highway runs n everything in between lol!

i was thinking about that, when I do that I will have fuel efficiency and power...

hmmmmm

can get a better speced 120d now for the same price as a 125i... the choices...

i am really torn between all of this.

then, when i think what they are going for I always think - damn, so much money for such a car - why not get something else :argh:

I just prefer the feel of a petrol car to be honest. Diesel cars are great, you can tune it up and get epic power, as a lot of guys have done to their X30d's and those cars FLY! And you get better fuel consumption. But I never considered the 120d as an alternative, it just didn't appeal to me. :dunno:

It revs VERY nicely to 7000rpm! Admittedly it's not a N/A straight 6, but the trade off of getting more of that power up at the reef is worth it!:inlove:

That aint bad at all for traffic and spiritted driving. My R is currently on 12l/100km and my traffic aint even that bad. But I do give it the beans often.

Sitting on 10.4l/100km. A little more highway driving on this tank, but still plenty of urban and hard acceleration.

So coming down nicely as the car is running in. Now on 2600km.
