Hey guys,

Has anyone put aftermarket wheels on their F15 X5 (20-22inch), and did you have any issues?

Another question, has anyone installed a lowering kit with the lowering links for rear air suspension?

I have the 20” BMW Performance Rims on with the standard M Sport suspension. Other than impacting your fuel consumption a bit, no other issues.

I doubt you'll have issues, granted mine is a X6 it came with the 21" optional rim's. I've seen guys on bimmerpost running 22" rims on F15 X5 just check front tire width for rubbing.

This always baffles me. Why on earth do you buy a high sprung SUV then want to lower it?? Why not get a sedan or estate if you wanted a low car in the first place.

You don’t get BMW estates in South Africa. Many will buy the smaller SUV’s with the lowering kits and big wheels for its resemblance to an Estate (look and space wise). Others do it simply because of the sporty look. Each to his own

All I know is, my X3 sure as shit looks better than a standard non M Sport one

From a wheels perspective you should be fine going 2inch larger than stock so long as you not impacting the overall running diameter. The profile of tyre will need to be lower to compensate for the larger wheel.
I’ve got the 20 inch option on my X3 and the drive is perfectly albeit on 35 profile on the rear. I have driven a normal X3 which was much softer but much of the difference was due to mine being m sport, which has a stiffer suspension set up.
