F15 LCI handbrake malfunction

Morning

I have a 2017 x5 3.0d and yesterday I got an electronic brake malfunction error msg. The car also makes a very high pitched screeching sound every time you own the door.

These don’t have the manual release in the boot that you used the red plastic tool to engage. I have disconnected the battery for some time in an effort to reset. But as soon as I reconnect the battery I get the screeching sound again.

Anyone has any idea how I can release the electronic handbrake

Read here, it also has the emergency release but you need to use another tool.

Had the same on ours, replaced the whole mechanism and they should also do the shoes on each of the rear wheels so those are fresh too.
