F10 vs F30 / F25

I need input from anyone with experience of the three against each other.

In most posts regarding F10, you see messages such as “nice ship”, “well done, lovely boat”.....and those are never seen with F30 new car posts, My F30 is a great little car, but just doesn’t have the luxury I’m after.
F25 is a totally different configuration altogether and drives lovely, the short bonnet and high seat / visibility makes it easy to drive into tight spots.

Anyone with a F10, does it feel boaty as some comments state, is it that big of a car that it’s uncomfortable if used to F30/F25

Is the maintenance altogether difference ito pricing (what’s the price gap, 10,20,50% premium on its F30 equivalent).

If you have lived with it for sometime, what do you hate / what don’t you like about it?

Nothing beat real world experiences vs a paid up review....so I look forward to your feedback

I have an f30...my Dad has an f10....

f10 is built better compared to the f30...you can feel and hear the quality difference.

F30 is more sporty inside and has a better grounded feel where as the f10 although still kind of sporty is more laid back....

I drive his car often and you definitely feel the size....Its a bulky car.... Malls are being built but the parking spaces are getting more narrow.
I hate parking that car.

My parents drove my car a few weeks ago and said they felt the f30 more comfortable for them. I think they will be getting an f30 soon  :roflol:

Both great cars....all depends on what you feel comfortable in. If you want luxury buy a newish merc....I dont see the f10 being more luxury compared to an f30...its just different...

I have owned F01,F10 and F30...

The F10 is just the perfect all rounder, not as 'cheap' as the F30, and also not as common...

Parts/maintenance is a bit more expensive, but in general a lot is interchangeable.

If you can, get an F10 530d well specced without the fancy pants active suspension, and you have a car for life basically..

I have driven an F10 a few times and owned an F30 LCI.
The F30 is a cheaply made car (though, it is still a solidly made car and is a proper BMW). Compared to my A4 B8, the F30 LCI was a downgrade (in terms of feel of materials and perceived quality). Even my 2016 Mazda CX5 felt more premium in most points vs the F30.
The F10 is an expensively made car - touchpoints feel expensive and well made.
If I was not SUV hunting for the wife, I would get an F10...

The F30 is a great vehicle however the F10 is just on another level in terms of comfort. Yes it is a boat, however you get used to the size of the vehicle, and in fact find it weird to drive smaller vehicles. I have owned my F10 520d since March and the vehicle is an absolute pleasure. The car is extremely refined and provides a sense of maturity.

The maintenence is pretty much the same as the F30 in terms of services.

I think the F10 has one of the more pronounced “shrink around the driver” effects.

I really can’t think of any advantages of F30 over an F10, especially in our market where F10 is undervalued. It’s a stellar used buy.

I have an F10 M5, it shrinks as I put my foot down, I know that doesn’t help, but I cannot complain, build quality is very good, absolutely enjoy driving it whether like a granny or spirited

Spoiler alert!

My wife doesn’t like it much! She prefers the X3.....let’s see as the days go by

I couldn’t resist the comfort seats, my long time BMW option crush

Invariably when people say a 5 drives like a boat, they're driving one of the small-engined ones. Even the rather portly F10 isn't that vast in the great scheme of things. I'd always rather have a 5 than a 3.

Going from a drive in a 5 series (F10) to a 3 series (F30);
You immediately see the visual “down grade” in built quality .

The 5 series is well put together and had a BMW Premium finish to it.

Makes F30 look cheap!

Driving wise still find the F30 sharper because I have had them for 8 years now (had the 328i from 2012, then later 320i).

The 5 series is much more lush, relaxed and In Sport mode, things tighten a bit. I’m enjoying the different experience thus far, will update thread with Pics, was raining yesterday afternoon.

Pics from dealership;

I typically go for M-Sport packages, but I found this unit to be unique. Comfort seats, Head-Up display, 6WB instrument cluster, updated I-Drive, comfort access, amongst other creature comfort sold it to me.

Why not G30, prices are looking comparable.

Isn't it better to go newer with G30? Prices are looking comparable.

@AceRally apologies I see your point now. Actually realistically it is not, that is a high price for a f10. Yes good low mileage and year model, you're point has made clear that it is highly priced. That f10 you are referencing is very close to used M5 money.

In addition, the F25 you can get for less money again too.
