F10 M5 exhaust options

Hey everybody

Im sure most will agree that the F10 M5 is an amazing car, however, the exhaust tone, especially from inside the cabin, is a little disappointing.

Without voiding my motor plan, what are my options with regards to making the exhaust louder?

Im off to BMW tomorrow to get quotes for an M Performance exhaust but im not holding my breath as Im sure its going to be ludicrously expensive :smashScreen:

A side note, I must say the community here at bmwfanatics is pretty dam awesome. :praise:

Depends on how loud you want to go. The windows need to be down for you to hear much inside still. It sounds great outside. My opinion is also that sooner or later you will become desensitized to any change anyway. It is also only slightly louder than stock when the flaps are closed. It's a well insulated car at the end of the day. Outlaw335 bought my original exhaust and modded the back boxes with good results. There is also a custom system on Gumtree for R4k if you want to experiment. I also heard someone with the Turner Motorsport backbox deletes. At this point it is just MPE that is approved for a full system seeing as BMW has clamped down on others. I think the ACS back boxes may still be OK, but they only have the euro (quieter) versions still available. You might want to just keep an eye out for a used system although I had one too many non negotiable folks wanting more than BMW charged me brand new in the end. By that time I really wanted it, got a good deal so I did it (deep breath making that transfer!!).

Search for threads here and elsewhere where guys have tried to replicate/fabricate systems and end up with Akra/MPE anyway at the end. just to do the rear competition pack back boxes from BMW costs 55k. Many of the importers will quote you R60k+ for back boxes only (if not more - and not titanium).

If building a system there is TMSS who has experimented a lot with his own M5 and Xflow. Bolting an exhaust on and off for going into a dealer in most of these cases above is inconvenient though.

Think the wife would divorce me if I spent upwards of 100k on an exhaust.:hammerhead:

Probably just gonna leave it stock until the plan runs out.... in 2019

I got a set of stock F10 M5 rear silencers for sale which I opened up, got the perforated pipe holes spot welded closed, put all the packing back in and got the boxes closed again. Very professional job - let me know if you are interested to buy them. The one box has about 35,000 kms on it and the other one about 1,000 km (was motorplan replacement due to rattling exhaust valve). They sound awesome! Will let them go for R4000 for both boxes.

I've decided to keep the car stock for now.

risking the motor plan is a bit too scary for me and prices are really stupid.

I haven't even begun to experience what the car can do so I'll sit tight for now and enjoy. Besides, is a quiet cabin really that bad?

Your only motor plan safe option is BMW MPE. Below is a response I got from BMW last month with regards to Akra and ACS. I paid R70k on my F83 M4 MPE. Its absolutely worth it if you sound matters to you.

We thank you for your enquiry.

Yes the Akrapovic and AC Schnitzer parts are no longer approved for BMW vehicles. The parts fitted prior will carry the standard 24 month warranty and the motorplan for those vehicles will still be honoured.

Should there be anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Stock M5 is not that quiet :tiptoe:
I say just open the window a little...
When you ready i suggest visit TMSS and hear what they offer.
Owner there owned a M5 and knows what he's saying/doing
