F10 520d

Having sold my E60 530d recently i am looking at buying a F10 520d.  Those of you who owns one, i would like to hear from you regarding performance, consumption, ride, etc. Any problems experienced in your time of ownership? I know that the performance will be slightly less than the F10 530d, but after having driven my son's F30 320d I was amazed at the performance and economy. The Five being slightly heavier would be less frugal i assume. What do you get with your 520d on the open road ? Any engine related problems that you know of or have experienced? Hey man,

I had one of these for a long time, i found the power a bit weird with the turbo lag and so fitted a BMW OEM PPK not long after buying it new. The performance, dynamics, handling and shunt power are all amazing. The power to weight ratio is actually amazing and you dont realize that this is quite a heavy car, the engine is more than capable.

Consumption is also very good and i was getting 900+ kms on a tank of 50ppm Shell diesel.

Comfort wise, i prefer the seats in my f10 to the harder seats in my G30 even though they "look" softer. BMW is really cheaping out on interior comfort inside lately which they must catch a wake up on.

Long term, the car was a pleasure with no real major issues or problems. there were some niggles identified that the dealership sorted out through its lifetime without problem.

If you manage to find a good clean one that is loaded nicely with extras and at a good price, close your eyes and go for it, you will not regret it, i simply miss my F10 alot.

Twice now went to look at the same car. Excellent condition with full history and low mileage. Not a m/s but i prefer the softer ride anyway. Quite a lot of fancy stuff on the car as well. I was slightly worried about the performance as the car is not as lively as my son's F30 320d but i ascribe that to the heavier mass of the F10 over the F30. Was going to map it anyway. Still undecided though!

So informed the owner that i will not be buying his car. Am looking at F30 320d's now. Had a look at about six today. Might buy one if we can negotiate the price to my level. Will keep posted.

The 520d i fancied is a private owner that lives in Paarl. Car is in excellent condition with only 70k kms on the odo. All services done at Paarl BMW with newish tires and very recent service. No issues at all with the car. It is a 2014 model with the digital dash and most of the extras available like satnav, rear camera, soft close boot, etc. It is not a motorsport but "Luxline" or something like that. Owner wants R280k Silver car with beige interior. Can provide further info but car is on Gumtree. It is advertised as Wellington but owner is in Paarl. Full history of the car is also available from the owner as he bought it from the local Shell garage owner. I think it is a great buy. I want to go smaller so am looking at the F30 for now
