When was this extended? I'm getting a quote for mine tomorrow. my '08 Z4M was quoted R10k about 2 months back for 1year ext.

So above 10k is normally the average depending on car and mileage... I was basing it on the cost of the last service whch was around 16k. And I'm bound to hit at least one service in the next 14 months so renewing is definitely the option I'll be taking.

Last year I extended my motorplan on my 07 e92 m3, 1 year at R9k.

Gonna do another 1 year extension this year, possibly next month!

The cost of the extension is nothing compared to the cost of replacing a clutch, gearbox,DCT transmission, engine, brake pads, brake discs etc.... I will be looking to extend mine to 150,000km's soon, even though the mileage is relatively low. I got bitten on my E46 M3 on resale value and maintenance, the cost of the extension paled in comparison to what I ultimately lost on the car and the routine maintenance.

The exhorbitant extension costs generally involves km or a combo of km and time.
If you just buying time it's quite reasonable.
I extended my 2006 E91 in 2011 for R3600 per year to 2013 before I sold it.
Given it was a measly 320i but still rather cheap. Car had 60000km at time of extension.

This is a very debatable topic where everyone has their own preferences.

Some people would prefer to put that money in the bank and shop around at reputable independent workshops if/when anything goes wrong.

Other people prefer peace of mind at the dealerships and be covered by motorplan.

Also depends on the type of vehicle.

True, I guess in my opinion it just makes for peace of mind and the fact that should I sell the car with MP, I'll get a better value than without. I've been bitten twice now with performance cars and no cover,I won't do it again.

But you are very right in what you say. I used TuneTech when my M3 was out of MP and they were very good and decently priced. But to each his own, as you rightly said.
