Exhaust manifold stud nuts.

Howsit all. I'd like some fanatic input with regards to this. Is it essential to use brass nuts to fasten the manifold onto the head or would normal high tensile steel nuts suffice?

I've ordered nuts from the stealers....actually waiting on a price....i can get high tensile studs from bolt-it.....7x1mm thread pitch. Is high tensile a good idea? Or should I be using mild steel?

I hear what you are saying. But BMW want 600 bucks for studs that are 42 mm long......which is ridiculous if I can get all 24 for under a hundred bucks. I'll do some more research WRT the studs.

what would worry me is the expansion properties of the studs if these are wrong it could lead to leaks or metal fatigue on the head

paying R 500 more might seem like a waste of money but it is cheaper than fixing problems down the road

If you can find what grade stud BMW uses then its a win :)
