hi guys i need an error code translated

1. 119 signal throttle potentiometer (which as ive have been told is the TPS ordered one from BMW will collect this afternoon.)

2. 93 CAN data fault from DME/DDE

i have no idea what number 2 could be and i cant find anything on the net about it (i think this is the error that is causing my ASC light to stay on) the ASC is disabled at the moment.

hmm, your dme complains when it can't talk to the asc/dsc/abs, thats probably what it is, you'll have to read the error memory off your asc/dsc/abs module and DME and see what errors it gives you. One of the pots in the throttle thingy is prolly dead, it has two pots acctually in the same unit, the one reads in reverse to the other one, so you better replace it incase the other pot dies also. that won't be cool. especially if it dies while your driving. you gonna have to unfortunately get to someone with GT1 or INPA/Edibias to get the error memory read off the modules...

if your DME couldn't talk on can u would be having more issues I think.. so prolly your asc module has some error.

I dont think his E46 comes with an electronic throttle does it? Was that not 2000 onwards?

Carsoft should be able to probe the ABS module to see what errors it is giving. It might just have been a one off error. I got the same on my E38 when it had a low battery voltage...cleared the error and it has never come back.

Edit: BTW, having a faulty TPS will cause the ASC light to stay on aswell. Is your car running like crap at all?

ok so the good news is i replaced the TPS and eery thing is solved the revs are spot on the idling is perfet the cars does not die when you stop with a/c on all is well and the doors lock when you reach 16km's and the ASC is sorted the dash light is off and it works. So if you have similar issues replace the TPS. Thanks to all for the advice

You will be suprised how much the TPS does...

Without an accurate signal, the DME does not know whether you are accelerating, on a trailing thottle, cruising, idling etc...
The ASC will also not be able to function because it cannot tell whether you are applying the accelerator or not...
If you have an automatic gearbox, having a faulty TPS will cause the gearbox to go into trans-failsafe mode...

Glad the car was sorted out cheaply :)
