Errol's Tyres

I see many forum members keep showing links to Errol's tyres for a good price ....

but

this is a "walk away with the raw tyre in your hands only"...no fitment...no balancing...no nitrogen...etc...you still have to go to a fitment centre to have them fitted/balanced/installed, which in our case costs R60 per tyre.

I recently had an inquiry w.r.t. some FALKEN tyres (our house brand) and was sent a PM of a "screen capture" off the Errol's tyres website, and initially I wondered how I was supposed to compete against those prices, until I did a "mock-transaction", that is when I discovered the "HIDDEN COSTS" for shipping...etc....and the fact that the tyres would be loose only without any fitment/labour etc.

In my "mock-transaction" the website added R190 odd extra for 2 tyres for shipping, ....with the shipping costs now added into the base price of the tyre it was now actually economically viable for us to do the deal at the same/similar price....but in our case we would fit and balance it as well.

In the case of FALKEN, we get our tyres delivered to our shop for free in any case...Yokohama/Pirelli/Michelin we collect from the respective warehouse.

Just saying

you should lay the numbers out...

the way I read it your tires are cheaper once you factor in shipping and fitment :)

Were-ever possible we will try to match or undercut the total amount of
1)base price as per the website......plus
2)shipping cost per tyre......plus
3)Fittment/balance/nitrogen (R60 per tyre)

Valid for FALKEN at this stage, will need to do some more comparative "mock transactions" esspecially for other brands.

We are a signatory to Errol's tyres as an approved fitment centre for collection and or fittment, and have approx 2 to 3 deals a month, but so far each time the client just picked up his loose tyres and left, so we didn't get anything out of the visit....except exposure....(which is never a bad thing)....had the client decided to do the fitment at our shop and then compared his total bill (Errol's tyres cost/Errol's tyres shipment charge and our labour for fit/balance) then we could have done equal or beter in most cases ...especially on FALKEN's

The extras are fixed costs then, so if you are fitting 225/745 R18 the cost of shipping and fitting gets proportionally less making them a better option?

I agree with the thread in general, just one part I would like to clarify as i think it does affect the price a buyer pays.

according to errolstyres website.

We have fitment partners in your area.
You may also choose to collect your order at the following location(s) to exclude your shipping costs.
Please note: Your purchase price excludes fitment. A fitment fee can be negotiated with the fitment partner should you want them to fit your purchase.

In other if you choose to pick up from locations listed below you will not pay the shipping costs.
Ruimsig, Johannesburg
Phalaborwa 2
Phalaborwa 1
Polokwane 2 (Pietersburg)
Polokwane 1 (Pietersburg)
Edenvale
Randburg
Midrand (B)
Pretoria Central

If it is delivered to Ralf, there should be no shipping cost and the fitment can be negotiated with Ralf.

I used errol's tires before and they gave me really good service, and I doubt anyone is retarded enough to think that a tire ordered over the internet and delivered to your front door with include fitment.

Honestly I am all for their system....I can choose the tire I want, and order it....well I am all for anything that reduces the amount of time I have to spend dealing with tire "experts"

Errol's obviously cannot include fitment and has to levy a shipping fee because they are located in East London, whereas the majority of people on here are in the JHB/CT areas.

I've bought from them before and fitment and balancing was thrown in for nothing because I was able to drive into their shop.

Frankly I find it a bit ridiculous that a registered advertiser on here chooses to promote their service by putting down another just because it's been mentioned a few times recently. :thumbdo:
