Indeed.....

I wonder where that comes from

Cabin filter housing, and all bits possibliy in the way removal time... 5 minutes, while stopping for a smoke.

Drop engine to access, like 5 hours....

there is also no N46B30. The 330 has the M54B30 motor, which to be honest I am not too sure if it has VVT, double Vanos yes of course, but no VVT, or I stand to be corrected...

This entire job should not take more then two hours... so I dont understand where the guys come with their 2 or 3k labour charges...

lucky i saw this thread, my car EML light came on this morning and the car didnt lose power yet was a bit jettery on the clutch(maybe slight power loss that i couldnt identify)

its at Club Motors Randburg now, hopefully it is something small and i get the car back this weekend.

the advice in this thread is quite informative, thanks a lot guys!

Took the car for another reading this morning and the Valvetronic internal fault is back.

That puts my mind to ease cause now i know i have to replace the unit.

BMW quoted me R900 for the tappet cover gasket:bangdesk: is this correct. that seems way too much just for a gasket. Can i buy this gasket anywhere else?

hey dude, my car was diagnosed with the VVT motor failed. they have to replace the tappet gasket cover and 2 other things along with this, check tune-tech's website for the info:

thanks , i did see that in the week. Its the VVT, gasket and flenge (spelling) that needs replacing.

What are they charging you to replace?

Howsit bud!

mine is under MP, so no charge but the totoal charges with my back brakes changed came to around R8100-ish.

I had the same problem this morning....took the car to Ross Duncan Midrand. ..VVT motor stuffed, :cry:paid R6500...car is 2007 320i exclusive with 98000km......

Mines was done on Monday ,
Same faults , limp mode, got it scanned & it picked up
VVT interal error

Bought it from BMW & fitted with new tappet cover gasket
Ooh what a change in power delivery, it was also a killer on pertrol

Now back to normal......
