Hi,
My first problem with my e46. The drivers window doesn't auto down when the button pushed. i think i'm pushing far enough down as i have tested all the other windows and they respond as per normal. is there a way to fix this or is replacement the only option.

thanks did look through the post very nice to know for when it does happen. i don't think it's the widow mechanism as the window does opens and closes normaly with no funny noises and the one touch auto close works. i think its the switch that is either faulty or worn.

The switches are known to 'seize operation' over time and you should be fine with a replacement from a scrapyard.

ah ok, yeah i understand now, just the auto down that does not work.. yeah its prolly the switch, or the relay on the body computer..

What ever you do DO NOT spray Q20 in the switches :)

I nearly demolished an e34 540i by means of fire due to that silly little mistake :)

Good news. i fixed it stripped the switch and tried the cleaning with meths method it had no effect. restipped it and changed the rubber pushers around (front one to the back) this seems to have done the trick. Now both front and back drivers side windows work as per factory specification.... for now.....
thanks for the help.....

Very true. and most of the time you save the hassel of having somebody else doing it wrong and damaging your stuff rather than fixing it.

depends if you having the same problem or different one. I'm still pretty new to BMW and still figuring them out.:hammerhead:

Hi Guys!!!!
My e36 electric windows and central locking not functioning, no power on the electric switches. I changed the comfort relay (blue relay behind the glove box), checked the fuses,I checked the electric windows power cut switch (it's on), also changed the driver's side lock set as thought it may be a micro switch but still no power. Any idea what could it be, i'm trying to save some cash as it's January. Please help guys.

And time, but I have seen the opposite to be true in unusual cases - costing more and frustrating the living sh!t out of me. But chances are slim with such high stealer prices - DIY is King :)
