Would you be able to give me a step by step guide to remove the ecu?
There's so little info on these new engines and how to remove the ecu. Some say the manifold must come off and some say you can get it out from the bottom.

The recommended method is to use to remove the intake manifold. This is mainly to ensure the ECU seals properly when put back since it closes part of the manifold with its heat sink sitting in the intake manifold.
I do not have step by step but its relatively easy if you have the courage to put a spanner in your hand. Take extra care when unplugging the ECU.
The rule of thumb is to change the manifold seals if the car has over 100,000km. The condition of them can be seen when removed. When we do carbon cleans we change them regardless at R350 cost per set. You can evaluate if they need to be changed in terms of the hardness of the rubber and if they are withered.
The ECU has a very thick gasket which I do not think needs to be changed. I have one for you that I have no use for so if you want you can have it then just change that for piece of mind.
