I am in the process of doing a ZKW 3" clear lense upgrade on my headlights, looking to couple this with new d1s bulbs, does anyone have any experience with the following bulbs on their cars

OSRAM Xenarc Cool Blue Intense D1S or Phillips D1S XENON WHITE VISION

ps, there is nothing wrong with my current xenon bulbs, i would just like to maximise the light output of the clear lense upgrade and after 7yrs of use, i think the bulbs could do with a refresh

I cant speak for the xenon type bulb

But on the halogen side i would rate the Phillips over the Osram hands down if that helps.

From my limited research, the Osram CBI's seem to be the the best you can buy at the moment

Haven't used phillips but osram is great quality. My e90 still has osram bulbs from 7 years ago.

Mine just went off... After 8 years... Replaced with Philips... Output of light is better imo...6000k... So light is alil whiter compared to the osrams (5500k ifrc)

Don't confuse light temperature with light output. 6000k may look whiter than 5500k, but that is just the colour of the light and probably has no bearing on how much light is being output

yeah, reason i made that comment was the bulbs have the same wattage (35w) and these ones look brighter ...then again, they dont have 8 years of use on them just yet:hammerhead:

i think i have a photo, will try and find it later on:thumbs:

So these are the details i have gathered

Stock light 4300k
Osram 5500k
Phillips 4800k

based on my research 4800k is actually the best type of light as it most mimics daylight....the higher the K, the light output diminishes as the light becomes more blue/purplish

With regards to the Clear Lense...if you have a look at your current headlight, you will notice that the lense is actually "cloudy" , i think this is for the way light is diffused . The clear lense just allows more light to pass through.
