E93 Recall Issues

Howsit everyone,

So my mother in-law has an e93 335i which decided to die on us before the December holiday started, car radio turning off, windscreen wipers going crazy, dash flicking through lights, car boil bottle also boiled over as she did not want to be stadning enxt to the side of the road alone at night and proceeded to drive home. We left it for the holidays to return to a flat battery. We got a new battery thinking that this was the issue. Apparently not. We also got a mechanic (non-bmw as it is out of motor plan) out and inspected to see that it was the alternator.

We proceeded to refurbish the alternator and yet the car still shows an IBS error. I did some research to see that this comes up with an earthing error.

Under some more digging I found the car has a recall. The recall description seems to be what we have been experiencing with the car as it is a wiring harness causing all sorts of nonsense with the car.

Has anyone else experienced this or been for the recall?

I Haven't had the issues you mention above , but I know on my last service with the E90 in September they changed the battery terminal as part of a recall.
sometimes it does help servicing the car at agents after Mplan expires, even if its just oil changes as they do check for campaigns.

Just as an update:

The vehicles alternator was causing the car to act all demonic like. The refurbished alternator that was supplied was incorrect with the number of pins. It had two instead of one which gave the IBS error. Installed the correct alternator and no issues.

The vehicle has been booked into bmw today for the recall anyway to prevent anything in the future happening and having to pay without know it was for the recall.

Next is to replace all vacuum hoses and windscreen wiper fluid bottle.
