Morning Gents

Ive been looking at the e9x M3.

Came across what seems to be a good spec although cabrio is not my thing. This has low mileage (32k)

She is a 2010 model with most of the Trinkets – dealer is looking for 520k
my budget is 500k

Some input from you gents please:
Checked the vin (WB5DX92040E437431) - everything matches to what’s been presented
How do I check for comments? The roof mechanism had just been replaced I believe…

Is this reasonable of a lil high ?

appreciate any comments or suggestions
Thanks guys

Hi,

Does the car come with motorplan? there isn't much detail on the car.

500k sounds reasonable if its got all the extras, although you can pick up one for a little cheaper with more mileage obviously. Its preference.

Are you dead set on an E9x M3?
For around R500k, you could start getting into a 2013, perhaps lower spec 2014 435i coupe, if a convertible isn't your thing/requirement/nice to have.

It won't have the M3's performance, but the 435i is no slouch either. Plus it's a current shape with balance of MP. You don't mention how long you will be keeping the car and its intended use - DD, weekend toy, etc.
I'd take the 4 if you plan on keeping it a while and use it as a daily.

Why was the car in question's roof mechanism replaced to begin with? That's a little red flag right there. Was it done properly? Insist on taking it through a car wash and check for leaks before you buy.
I'm very cautious of owning a folding hard top out of MP. That's perhaps just me though.
Every time I dropped the top on my Z4 and (especially the 3 piece roof of the) '4 I was mesmerized by how every everything had to happen just so to avoid disaster...

That said the E9x M3 is something special and I'll always have a soft spot for it.

You can't compare a 435i (great car) to a M3 (epic car). With that said, price is high IMO for a car with no MP (and no optional 19's).

This one's suspension seems too high.

And I'm not.
I'm giving OP another option in the price bracket and expressing my concerns regarding the car in question's roof and owning a folding hard top vehicle out of warranty.
A 435i would be better suited as a DD, IMHO.
E9x for a weekend toy any day, if OP can afford to get it fixed out of MP or can get some sort of mechanical warranty (that's actually worth something) on it.

Good point. The M3 is a kak DD! Also expensive to maintain out of MP.

At 32k km the car is practically still new. If the mechanism of the rooftop was replaced then there should be no issue. If you really like it then go for it you wont be sorry. If cabrio is not your style then go for the e90/92.This is a special car to own. Im sure you will have a smile on your face when driving it.:coolShake:

Thanks for the info gents. Not really keen on the cabrio- just happens that this dealership isn't too far off from the office so I Could pop over there to view.

I have a x35 currently. I take nothing away from the new m4 but there is something magical about the induction noise that 4l v8 makes. With a nice exhaust upgrade, chilly winters eve - I think nothing could be better.

To be honest I'm hesitant to look at high Mileage cars due to the issues that may arise.

The search will continue. If anyone has ideas or good leads please let me know.

Always appreciative of the input here gents

Do yourself a favour and take a E93 M3 for a spin. Post your impressions/criticism here afterward.

I would take the E92 over the E93 ONLY if I was looking for the performance and handling advantage it has.

Hi guys... I'd like to think that I'm an e9x nut as I've had 3 M3s in the last 4 years
I moved from an e92 , which I owned for 2 years, to an e93 Silverstone 2010.i had that for 11 months and had to get out of it.
If you don't mind a heavy feeling car with lots of cowl flex ( was surprised that a high end car had it so badly) then this is the car for you.
The seats are large and look bulky compared to the sleeker e92 seats due to seatbelt mechanism.
The car will leak when a power jet is sprayed against it.... BMW techs said that it's not recommended.
Rattly Windows when the roofs down and you go over bumps.
Lighter detached steering feel when the hoods folded.

If you want a dynamic drive... I'd go for the coupe- don't waste your money on a high powered vert.
It's a great posers car though but only you'll know about all the little niggles- I couldn't stand it.
Loved the roof down though.

To the Op. What did you get.
I have the E93. Besides all the issues noted about...the E92 wouldn't let you tune your own:blowheart: music with the roof down.

There happens to be a fantastic E90 for sale on the forum... And it's under your budget.

True, its best to test drive the car.

I think the E93 M3 struggles with that additional weight at altitude. I found my E92 335i was more thrilling in the way it accelerates and I can bet E93 335i runs the E93 M3 close at altitude.
