Any brand, german or not, can be taken in the same way.

This is not just a BMW issue...

Right tools, little bit of knowledge, and your sorted.

this isnt good.

but what i cant understand, why didnt the car alarm go off when the door was opened?

as far as i know,it can only be opened with the key, thus stopping the alarm to go off,so they must have had a spare key.

This is true & the breed of hijackers these days are educated & some work for the manufactures & tracking companies hence I have little faith in trackers!

did I miss something, I dont see him break the window or fiddle with the lock at all he just opened the door... didn't see hazards flash to show unlock either?

how did he get into the car then...
programming a key via the OBD is bad enough but how did he get in to start with..? :fencelook:

Unfortunately an old problem. Apparently only on RHD cars :fencelook:
Hoping no one in SA is smart enough to do this.

this happened to a friend of mine, they stole his E92 m3 from out of his driveway, car was sold to someone who found his business card in the car and called him asking him when he was getting the reg docs. anyway long story short he was lucky enough to get his car back after about 2 weeks.

its crazy
another friend of mine had his polo gti stolen in kenilworth in cape town parked outside his work, in broad daylight

and the scary part is these key cloning machines are readily available and inexpensive when i was in china earlier this year, i saw them selling for about $400

Thread revival......

A friends car was stolen a few months back and found the next day with no signs of forced entry or tampering to the EWS.

Could it be possible to jack a non M E90 Lci via OBD key cloning ?
