So I was the lucky buyer of Ratslaaf's e92 M3 a few months ago. I sold my e92 335i so I would have the cash available if the right M3 came along.
It needed to be manual, bearings done (or still under motorplan, but could not really afford those year/mileage cars) and preferably black and just in general good condition. So when the add popped up I jumped at it, literally! I followed the threads and knew the car was properly loved and looked after. No shortcuts with everything maintained 100%.
Anyways I was overseas at the time, phoned Gert and pretty much bought the car a few minutes after seeing the ad.
Gert was great to deal with, helped me with storage and all paperwork crap. Fixed a few little niggles that he promised too and had the car fully polished.
Time didn't fly while overseas waiting to collect my new car, but the day eventually arrived and I flew up to JHB to collect the car. Landed at OR Tambo a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday morning, Gert picked me up in his beautiful 5 series and whizzed me off to his place to collect the M3. Couldn't really believe that this amazing car was mine, it all seemed a bit unreal.
So 1st part of drive was just from JHB to Bloemfontein. What a way to experience a V8, holy crap it gave me goose bumps every time I got on the the throttle. Just frekening amazing. Averaged 12l/100kms.
1st Stop at Bloemfontein
Next morning I left at about 5am to finish off the trip to Cape Town. Car was just unbelievable and I got to enjoy it for another 1000km and few tanks of petrol.
Back home and little M3 has some good company now.
I've been crap busy with work and only really managed to start really enjoying the V8 this past weekend. It is forking amazing! The sound, the constant surge/power delivery and general handling/feel is fantastic. It feels a lot bigger than the E46 at slow speeds, but when really pushing it, it feels so composed and solid.
