Looking forward to tomorrow, my first E92 on the lift...:fencelook:

btw what is that silver module?

SAPS hat?

Silver module is a ULF for bluetooth.

If it's a retrofit it will need the fibre optics to be rewired and coding will be required.

Atleast that is what it looks like to me.

I've done a couple of these retrofits already, got it down pat :=):

All pre-LCI E9x cars come prewired for BT, thus all the required wiring is there for a ULF. It's a simple matter of adding the BT antenna under the passenger side dash and installing a MIC in the overhead lights cluster.

When installing a MULF, it's a little more tricky as you need to install two cables from the boot to the armrest for USB and Audio (as the Aux in no longer goes to the radio). And these use FAKRA connectors that can't really be made up in your own garage. Also, the big white connector going to the ULF must have its housing changed to a blue one to fit into a MULF. I've made a plan to make it work though.

Or you can have my luck and have an E9x LCI with no wiring whatsoever. This was a pain on my 320d as I had to carefully strip all the wires out of a pre-LCI car and make up a loom to work on an LCI. Lucky I don't need anything this drastic on the M3 as it's mostly prewired. Just have to get the USB cables in.

Coding I can do with my eyes closed. Ok, maybe with one eye closed

LOL, I gotta move with the times or get left behind...:fencelook:

So when are you starting with Satans fuel then?

Soon, it became apparent to me that people aren't spending money on E36s like they used to so I can't rely on them forever, time to move on and broaden my horizons...

Yeah it is a pretty simple retrofit. I know they're prewired but the fibre optics need to be rewired as they are in a loop with themselves.

Spent some time on the steering wheel and drivers door. It had that gloss black look from the leather never getting any treatment. Also, the stitching was rather faded as well.

I then cleaned it, washed it down with the Magic Erasers and then used multiple applications of AF Leather Conditioner. It's now got that natural satin look, the camera flash actually doesn't make for a good pic but you get the idea. I'm surprised how much conditioner the steering wheel is soaking up hey...

I was treated this morning to some awesome company and some even more awesome cars. It didn't feel right to take pics because of how rare these cars are, but I did take a snap of one of the newly refurbished steering wheels. My jaw hit the floor once I held it in my hands and studied the incredible attention to detail that went into the refurb. I just wish such talent was available locally...

I'm seriously thinking of going this route with mine as well, including the gear level and handbrake boots!

What did that cost you? I'm going to guess 300$ or 300£

Here is mine I had redone. And while it is far from perfect I'm happy with the result. Cost R1250. Had it redone once previously already and the guy did an abortion on my wheel so had it redone somewhere else.
