E92 M3 or 1 M Coupe

So I have finally decided to change. Currently driving an 09 M Coupe with 19" VMR
Reps which I have owned since new.

I was always set on upgrading to the e92 M but with the 1M on the way I'm a bit confused.

Just to clarify. I am looking at an 08 M3 Vs a brand new/demo 1M.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

e92 M3 is what I would go for, for one thing it is a real M with a proper M engine, unlike the 1 series.

Brand new is better depending on what you want to do with the car. Drive them first then decide. I love the M3 and would not mind the new 1 series but i wanna drive it first as i do quite a bit of BMW track days and love my M.

if you going to keep it stock then maybe the M3 because it looks so good... but if it were me id probably get the 1M, but i look at cars in a funny way...

Hehee... Yes, you made such a good argument.

The world is changing so fast and new cars are on the production lines as we speak. The thing with performance cars is this....there is a new one in the wings...saw the new six in stellenbosch last week and i was left speechless....it looks stunning. So i am already looking at the next big thing in the bmw stable. Not married to any bmw model type....2 years with the 335 is already one year too long for me...But for me it must be turbo charged... The M3 may be the better car of the two (1M)...but it is not force-fed hence not getting my vote in this instance.

as a M Coupe driver also I think a change to M1 would not be suitable for you - its the V8 M3 that would feed your need.

PS must warn you - change the Rims before you trade - the Motorplan guys might have an issue with them, Ive heard stories all Im saying.

For me it's more the experience that counts so I'm heavily leaning toward the M3.
The 1 seems more sensible if it enters at the said 500k mark but my heart is definitely in the M3.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Mike- thanks for the heads up. Will be putting the stock wheels back on.
Sandton Auto offered to buy the M Coupe a few months ago so I would need to check what they offering.

Midrand BMW offered a disappointing trade value.

Will start scouting around soon.

I would go for the M...agree with Twinz, forcefed is the way of the future, but i just feel that BMW had the chance to build something special and they held back so as to not cut into the M's sales. 1 M Coupe will no doubt be an awsum car, but BMW could have made it so much better, especially with the RS3 on the way.

well ... My input on this .... all the M1's allocated for SA are sold already ... so you are going to pay an arm and a leg for it due to availabilty and demand ..

2nd point is ... m3 looses its value so quickly ... a few years and a brand new m3's value will be the same as a new 335i

So i would say buy a 335i or a 135i ..hahahahaha!

Thats like asking which do you need to live, air or water :thinker:

My vote would definitely go to the underdog, 1M but also holding the thought that the M3 isn't totally out of the question. I mean try the 1M, keep it for a year then you can change if you want :thumb:
