e92 M3 Issue - Advice Needed

Hi Guys,

Got an issue on the vehicle - Limp mode as soon as the vehicle is started. Diagnosis says P2100 Throttle actuator open circuit.

Checked Throttles, cleaned it. Replaced one Throttle actuator (as only one bank was opening)- issue was sorted for 1 day and then presented itself again. Same P2100 error.

Anyone else experienced the same issue and have possible resolution ?

TIA

From what I’ve read, when one throttle actuator goes, the second one fails very soon after that, hence many shops advise to replace them in pairs.

Preventative maintenance would be to do the gears inside before any faults occur.

You may need to scan the car again and check where the fault is now

From what I’ve read, once you start getting error codes from the actuators the gear replacements don’t work..

Yip!!! And a lot of times the gear replacement fail again anyway. Bit the bullet and replace both. M TAX

If the gear set is changed prior to EML light then you can expect no issues in the future.
If you get an EML light 95% of the time even with a gear set change the actuator electronics will fail.

Change them and you are in for roughly 24k
