Oh and alpina, hopefully i can get to meet you next time :thumb:

It would be my pleasure to meet some BMW track enthusiasts (Sankekur & Uber Soldat)

Even though there were no modded x35i BMW Fanatics cars at Zwartkops, I was nearly beaten by the Big Boss Auto widebody, full slicks, E90 335i that belongs to Kishoor Pitamber. I'll try and put together a little footage of this car next week.

Here is a video of a fellow Track-TV forum member driving his E36 M3 (4 door). He has dispelled the myth that all E36 M3 have some handling issues by turning in excellent times at Zwartkops (best 1:15.2). He never had a scary moment where he was surprised by the car's handling despite occassional mid-corner corrections.

This laptime would probably beat most E46 M3s on semis.

The video also shows that my E92 M3's exhaust is very unintrusive in the cabin and you mostly hear the intake box. Only when you open the window can you truly enjoy the rear freeflow silencers. The semi slicks make a terrible rumbling noise which is totally absent with road tyres.

As a spectator, must say, the E90 M3's turned more heads and was much better to see on the track. There were people with me who doesn't know the diffs between 335's and M3's but they liked the sound and the fact that the M3's even looked faster around the track. The M is built for the track as well....

Awesome video man

Thank you.

I recommend that you watch this video also. It is onboard footage from the BMW Racing Series that also ran on the 14 May 2011. Very exciting stuff.

This is an excerpt from the official results available on the net. There were three E92 M3s and three E90 335s. Other M cars also fared well against the 335i. All in all, a fairly close result. After this event, I would be tempted to say that given similarly skilled drivers, a E92 M3 vs E90 335i track battle could go either way. But more testing with more drivers is needed :)

To end off, here is some onboard footage of my best lap.

great thread but i dont think you can compare these cars... they are in totaly diferent leuges

You have a point. They are different cars with different purposes.

Yet they often do get compared in drag racing terms where the 335i can easily be modified to have the advantage. So I just wanted to present the other side of the coin.

Yes, I remember. I was standing at the robot and when it went green, I heard the sweet noise of a V8 giving it some stick. I only just spotted the M3 and gave chase. When I saw the Xcede sticker, I thought that I'll get my arse whipped, but I was interested to see how badly. Just as well traffic was too heavy for any games, at least I won't be tempted by all the mods you guys offer :)

Nice time well done bud. Awesome lap as well.

Thank you.

It's a pity that you weren't there ; you attend quite a few BMW Club trackdays. I remember watching some onboard footage from your car at Kyalami.

Yeah we are running a Enduro offroad motorcycle team sponsored by Brother printers and myself Edrich Zwiers Airconditioning and we had a race in Nelspruit so missed out. BIG difference in the 335i with chassis and corner stability, but then again i have thrashed my 335i 2 years ago around Zwartkops and this is why i am in my second M3.
