E92 M3 calling all 135 / 335

Thanks for the offer but I will pass as I already know the outcome.
Lap 1 I will most probably be ahead because of the jump I get on the start line. Lap 2 I will be passed as my brake discs will be cracked, my brake fluid will have boiled and the car will most probably be suffering from heat soak hehe.

I have a 335 and I am the first to admit that you just cant replace the 'M' regardless of mods. I would love to change to an M but hey money doesnt grow on trees. Most guys who do hate on the M are hating coz they cant afford it. Anyway i'll definitely be very interested to see a couple of comparisons on the track.

Just watched the vid of the B3 against the M. I am astounded bud! That B3 is insane now! Now I really want a ride in that stroker, even if I hold onto the dash and the roll cage! Awesome stuff! Will definitely give you a call soon!

Yeah, we all have desires that are out of our reach. Myself, I love Ferraris, especially the 360 Challenge Stradale and the later models are also awesome. Could never afford a car like that though, especially the maintenance. Like yourself, I don't go around trying to explain how other more affordable cars are better. I raced a 360 Challenge once with my M3 CSL and there was virtually nothing in it. Did he waste his money? Should he rather have bought a M3 CSL? No ways. He had a super hot blonde in his passenger seat and I had an empty lunch box. Now her box ... :nono: let me not go there.

Dunno where Corner 90 degrees is but I travel Rivonia Road regularly, so I guess it was me. Thanks, glad you like the car. Many would call the exhaust ricey but I prefer twin pipes to four and love being different.

Sorry, I am not planning to take passengers, focusing on laptimes. I could take you for a quick drive on the road but it is nothing new to you, so not really worth it. The exhaust is just a change of rear silencer and the cats are still in place ; no difference in power and not very loud either (cats kill a lot of sound).

LOL.

Judging by your quarter mile achievements, your car is seriously potent - well done. Admittedly you're exaggerating but you do cover some points that I was referring to in my earlier post. The E92 M3 is the first M3 that does not suffer with brakes on the racetrack - even my M3 CSL was useless with standard brake fluid.

You could still enter the rewarding, fun world of cornering via time trial events. The best one that I know of in Gauteng is the 4 Stage held at Zwartkops. The following video gives you an idea of what is involved. I am driving my previous white E92 M3 and there is also a turbocharged E46 M3 with KW coilovers.

The comparison is just getting way too much now guys... but I guess there will always be comparison going on between cars hey:dunno:

I just feel like you can only justify what you feel like is the RIGHT car for you. Some people think x35 is fine because they can mod it and etc, but some people feel like the ///M is worth the money:clap:!

When I was getting my M, I also considered the x35... then again the M3 has always been my dream car since I knew how to drive:pimp:

I guess what I'm trying to say is that is ignorant to say that a x35 is better then a M3 or vice versa:slap: Just don't hate that if you cannot afford a M and also don't hate if you get beat by non M:)

Can't wait for the new M to come out so all these comparison will finally end:wave:

Hmmm, talk about serious overkill.

If you stripped out a E46 330i and put in some suspension, possibly improve the brakes slightly, then you'd already be able to beat the E92 M3.

Weight is a killer for cornering, for braking, for accelerating ... basically all the things you wanna do on the racetrack. The E92 M3 is flipping heavy at over 1600kg. Do some horsepower per KG calcs to see how removing 300kg can drastically improve acceleration and then consider that similar advantages are gained for braking and cornering.

It is becoming clear that the 135/335 guys are not biting. No stress guys. Hopefully you'll still come and watch Mark Jones in the modded 135i and Ryan in his slightly modded 335i fly the flag for the turbo guys.

What about the Xcede M3s? Sherwin, you used to track your 335i regularly but I cannot remember seeing you take your M3 onto the track. I would also relish competing against a modified E90/E92 M3. Even though my engine is standard (as I said previously, the rear box made no power difference ; racing my dad's V10 M5 before and after proved that), I think that it is stronger than usual.

So far there are only 5 cars in your challenge.
2x V8 M3s (incl yourself) and 3x 335is (2 stock and 1 rather modified).

And for the day so far we have over 50 cars entered and 18 entries in the BMW Racing Series! It's gonna be a cracker!!!

What !!!

The 335i guys are outnumbering the M3s. Looks like the turbo guys are the more hardcore track group.

Is Edrich Zwiers (spelling?) the other E92 M3? I heard that he does 1:12s at Zwartkops in his modded M3 ; his achievements are my best hope that I'll beat my M3 CSL laptime.

Well at least with only two M3s, I am guaranteed a trophy for my efforts.

I'll love to attend this race meeting, how ever i'm based in KZN and making time is a big issue now, hopefully next time round. I have a e90 M3 M-DCT tuned by Xcede, so it would have been great to see how it stacks up against the rest.

The closest i got to ever taking it out on a race track was at the Roy Hesketh track in PMB. I attended a BMW driver training course there, where myself and a friend persuaded the BMW guys to allow us use of the track once they had finished for the day :)

Anyway, hope you guys have great time and also make that a safe one too

I am not one to exaggerate. My car has a V8 rear end including the LSD which helps major in the corners. The brakes are as bad as I say though, remember the car does not accelerate at the rate of a normal 335 therefore it has major forward momentum to overcome so the brakes over heat and crack instantly. 70% of any track time is how late you brake and at what rate so you will easily make a second on each corner.

It would be great if you could make one of the other events this year.

Sorry if my exaggeration comment came across wrong, I meant nothing negative by it.

Jeez, you 335i guys are serious modders. You're the second guy on this thread that has transplanted an M3 suspension. You don't play where I play, but you guys don't fcuk around. I take my hat off to you.

Didn't come across bad at all. All I am saying is that the 335 is a rep mobile that has modding potential. Its the only BMW I have owned besides a 325iS that is a non M model so I know and have experienced the vast difference.
