e91 320d timing chain failure and 2015 recall

I have a e91 320d 2009 that has started exhibiting timing chain slap , "sounds like ticking from the back of the engine".

Apparently BMW are running a recall campaign , see the link below

Even WikiPedia mentions this. There is a online petition for this. It looks like this can be a real problem, but check with BMW SA if yours is affected.

After speaking with bmw it seems this campaign has ended in SA , my car apparently has the revised timing chain kit , which will get noisy but not break
