E90 Wheel Alignment issues

Hey Beemer Fanatics,

Has anyone encountered the same issue as me. I've got a 2007 E90 320D Sports Pack which was purchased as a demo model with 35,000km on the clock.

Since day 1 there has been a slight pull to the left at high speeds.
Took it back to BMW who got it sorted out but unfortunately only lasted a couple of months.

This has been on going for the past 2 years on a regular basis I take the car every 2/3 months to get the alignment sorted.
Eventually BMW said that they can't do anything further as the car is out of maintenance plan and they don't see an issue with the car but rather it's my driving habits which cause the pull! WTF :argh:

I've taken it to variuos tyre and shock specialists who all do the usual check and reset but then again a couple months later the pulling starts.

Any advice or opinions will be greately appreciated.

Have owned my car for just over a year and a half and never fiddled with the alignment. Apart from the horrible tramlining it does have a slight tendency to favour the right, not much though. Most of the time she stays perfectly dead straight if letting go of the wheel. What about wear patterns on your front tyres?

No alignment issues on mine either, dead straight, is the strongest car i have owned wrt alignment and its on low profiles. I did see on an overseas for, that a guy changed his Oem shocks for some Aftermarket sport shock which sorted his alignment issue, do a search and check. Will update here once i get a chance to look it up again bud

Tufguy,

My '07 320d Sport had the same issue when I bought it. Turned out that it was the two left rims which was slighly buckeled (18") I complained about it since day one.

So after a week of complaining BMW made an appointment for me to bring the car in, they discovered it whilst checking allignment and balancing, had the rims repaired and the issue dissapeared.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the replies.
With regards to wear patterns they very normal as far as I can see. What I mean is that they are even on both front tyres and obviously because of the independant suspension and camber settings, they wear out quicker from the inside towards the outside of the tyre.

Hey aZZ_kIkR,
I've also had advice from other sources that maybe it could be related to shock or suspension issues. Haven't had a chance to investigate that option yet but definitely will keep an eye out for your findings.

BMW M,
I'm sure BMW Lyndhurst Auto would have picked that up if it was the case cause the vehicle was bought from them and went back to them 6 times to sort out this issue.
Maybe I should try another dealership and see if they can find any faults?

I'm also a little concern that maybe this vehicle has been in an accident before which may be causing the alignment issue. I mean this vehicle was bought as a demo directly from BMW head office in Midrand.
I will try see if I can get hold of someone at the dealership to maybe look into this for me.

Thanks again for all the feedback and input! :ty:

I had the same issue. I sent the car in and they said it was 100% but I still feel it pulling to the left slightly. Maybe I should get a HIGH speed balancing check!

Just got my car back from a service today and asked them to check the alignment. Must say, car feels a bit more stable and confident on the road. Still tends to "favour" the right, maybe even a bit more than before, but haven't had chance to take her on the open road to get a proper feel.

I went to look at MP invoices for my 07' 320d, it was serviced 3 times in the time I had her, allignment was checked and adjusted each time at a cost of R843.

The Dynamic ('10 320d) has had her 3rd service recently, and not once has the alignment been billed for... Leading me to assume that there might be problem with the pre LCi Sport Suspension which they monitored at each service...?

There is a HUGE difference between the ride quality from the pre Lci to the LCi Sport suspension...

Time to investigate I would say....

Actually that's a good point - have also heard that the pre-facelift sports suspension had issues. Of course mine is not a sports pack...
