E90 Vibration when accelerating

Hey everyone,

So my e90 320i has developed a worrying shudder/vibration. It happens when speeds get above 80 km/h and ONLY when on the throttle and the revs begin to rise. If I come off the throttle the vibration/shudder stops (in my mind this would suggest it isn't simply a balancing issue?). It seemed particularly bad when I was driving on the highway the other day at 120 km/h, I was trying to work out what was causing and kinda floored it to see how she would respond, at which point the shuddering increased and a weird mechanical sound was made, not sure how to describe it, but it almost felt/sounded like something was slipping. Obviously when it made that noise I immediately got off the gas so I can't say whether or not she started losing drive or whatever. When the vibration is happening she does feel slightly down on power, but I don't know if that's just in my head or not.

Anyway, any advice or suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Thanks for your responses in advance!

High chance that it is the guilbo.

I had that on my E46 and it was only when you accelerate otherwise nothing. Replace it cause in my case it started there and ended up destroying my bearing on the shaft as well as the guilbo. Had to buy a 2nd hand propshaft, new guilbo and new bearing and pay R1500k for labour.

But maybe look into that and stop at any propshaft place and ask them to check the propshaft, like 10min and they will tell you.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take her in and let you all know what the problem is! My gut feeling was something related to the propshaft or diff

Hey everyone, sorry for the long wait! So I eventually got underneath my car and had a good look around, and noticed 1 of the 3 bolts on the guibo was missing. So I got another bolt whacked in and she's back up and running smoothly! Very strange that it managed to come loose, but anyway the problem has been solved!
