technical E90 strange cluster issue

Hi gents and ladies.

I had a strange issue that popped up now.
Drive the car fine yesterday and parked last night, then I decided to have a quick shop run and to fill up now, but then had this strange issue when I started the car:

I thought maybe the key was faulty or the battery flat so I fetched the spare key and tried it, same issue.
Switched off the car and tried starting it again and it didn’t want to start for a while (it’s like it wasn’t reading the key or something)
The car then eventually started and I drove to the garage.
The cluster eventually stopped acting crazy while I was driving. When I got home, I could switch off the car off and start again as normal.

The alternator failed a few months back and that was replaced and I put in a new battery same time too.

Anyone else experience this issue?

If anyone’s struggling to view the video, I’ve got a few screenshots from the video I took to try and describe the issue.

The car was idling at the time when the rev counter etc went to 0.

New batteries can have premature failure so would load test it. But i would start with the ground cable. Strip away a bit of the insulation as it sometimes hides the corrosion. Next up will be terminals and fusible links.
