E90 runflats

Hey

Just sold my e36 after I could not get it from stop chirping.

Bought myself a e90 320i.
120 000km
2007
Getting it on Monday.

The vehicle has runflats. What does this tyres cost? Is there a way to put on normal tyres and adding a sparewheel or space saving sparewheel into the boot? Is it normal for the tyres to feel hard?

It would help if you give the tyre size...sport pack (17"), M-sport (18"), normal exclusive which could be 16" or 17" 's

But yes, you can go non-runflat with a big improvement on ride, but you'll have to get some kind of back-up like tyre weld (which won't help in a blow-out, or the space saver which in turn takes up some boot space)

Cheapest tyre i could get on a 18" runflat was R3500 each. That is the okish tyre, if you go name brands then start cutting

1) Not all RFT's are so expensive, you can get cheaper options such as PACE, whilst not * (star) rated, which is a requirement for MP , it is still an RFT, and in some cases 1/2 the price of the Bridgestone RFT's, and only slightly more expensive than "normal" Non-RFT" tyres
2) Normal tyres can easily be fitted, but you loose the safety factor
3) Yup....will take up space (tyre weld will only work on small holes like a nail)
4) RFT's have sidewalls that are extra strong and very rigid, essentially allowing you to run on the sidewalls strength alone, when the tyre has a puncture, but that also means way way less ability to absorb the roads uneven shocks and bumps, thus very hard ride quality

I just changed my 17" rear 255/40/17 to Michelin non-run flat.
Softer ride shows immediately. But i felt less stable driving on uneven road. Very weird.

Around 2.5 bar. Weird.

weaker or softer sidewalls, means that the tire will have more lateral ability to move, which leads to sensation of being less stable

Is it really true that E90 designed with runflat? People sit at back row complaining dizzy. :biglol:
