So one of my buddies 323i seems to be overheating, he says it's the water-pump, so does anyone know where this can be found for a reasonable price?

Its a electric water pump and very expensive. Mine also just stopped working. If he doesn't come right cheaply its best to import one if he can afford to have the car standing.

Smooth is right, its an electric pump and pricy. From the agents I was quoted 6k. I managed to source from a company called
Incomex - 012 653 8466 or 011 3990139 for the Randburg branch.

Cost me 4k. Its not OEM but it is manufactured in Germany and carries a 2 year warranty. Which is what I was after. You would probably need to replace the thermostat as well, cost me R1k from them as well.

Hope he comes right

I bought the thermostat initially thinking that was the problem. Did nothing. Motorplan changed the pump. I was bored one night and put the old one back in and worked perfectly.

Cool glad you sorted. Though I would worry about importing something with no warranty ?

It carries a 2 year warranty. So the only down side is if he needs to send it back for warranty puposes
