Hi guys,

I am not sure the extent to which this topic has been exhausted. I have a 2010 323i which recently showed a -40 degree on the outside temperature. Is there a possible DIY solution to this & where about is the sensor mounted? Please help

That means your sensor has been disconnected or has failed :fencelook:

The sensor should be located on the right side of your front bumper, usually near the fog lamp, you will have remove the plastic cover to get to it:thumbs:

Hope this helps buddy

It's just above to the left in this pic of where the positive (red) jumper point is located - on the passenger side is the bonnet switch...

I had the same problem after having my front bumper re-sprayed. Turned out the 2 sensor wires were touching.

Thanks alot guys. I looked for the sensor yesterday after work as advised by S1NGH001, unfortunately I couldn't locate it after removing the plastic cover on the right side of my bumper. I am more inclined to have a look at the suggestion by Philip, at least I have an idea what he's referring to.

Thanks guys

Hey guys, Philip, is this the sensor in question?

Okay, now I am a little confused. It seems this sensor that is located above the jumper point in my pic is actually an air quality sensor for the climate control. The actual ambient air temperature sensor is located, apparently, somewhere behind the front bumper which is strange, because when I removed/refitted my car's front bumper I never saw this (but then I wasn't exactly looking for it). On RealOEM it just shows the sensor, but not its location, and just had a look on google to see if I could find anything more, but no luck so far...
