e90 oil level sensor inactive

hi guys can anybody help me. I have a e90 320i and had a inactive display on oil level. changed the sensor purchased at golf wagon. bt still shows inactive. check wiring and looks good also sprayed electrical cleaner on connectors. pls help

Your car needs to be recoded. My dad had a sensor that would not show full on his e90 320i. They replaced the sensor and it did the same thing. Then they reprogramed the car and then left the battery disconected for an hour and it worked 100%. So I dont know exactly if its the programing or the battery disconect that did the trick.

I suggest disconecting the battery for a hour or over night and maybe it will work. Let us know if it works

just wanted to find out on 3 pins of the oil sensor. y do I get 2 lives on the plug of the oil sensor. took multimeter and measured to body of car. one should be positive and other negative and middle pin should be ur signal gng to computer box

It uses a protocol called BSD to communicate with the ECU and that is a data line. It's wired in Parallel with other devices as well. I had a car in yesterday with the same issue and it seems like the ECU isn't talking with the devices on that bus (in my case the alternator as well)

We're taking the car to Combined Electronics on Monday to have a look at the ECU, I will update you as to the fault we found. Just remind me :=):
