E90 LCI 320d Service

Hi Guys

My BMW is up for a service in about 1500km.
Will be the 135k service.

What I want to know is what's the common things that I need to get serviced at this millage.
What will the best place be to take it for a service.
Don't have a service plan.

Same car, bout the same mileage.

Oil, oil filter plus any other filter if due (air, diesel, cabin)

Also be sure to Check your damper pulley. At that mileage it will most probably have some hairline cracks.

Was your shocks replaced under MP? If not, it's probably a good idea to do a shock test. Lastly, if you want to go crazy you can also look at replacing fluids, ie brake fluid, power steering, cooling etc. Might be a bit overkill tho.

You can DIY the service, it's not hard, if you not up for it, tell us where you based and you will get some recommendations.

Okay will have a look at the pully. Any idea what that will cost more or less?

Replacing and doing a flush on fluids such as clutch fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and coolant every second year is a VERY good idea.

I would suggest you definitely do this as well, it is very simple to do, so you can DIY it.

Pulley is R6500 installed @ Ross Duncan in Midrand (I phoned him, cuz mine is almost due). That's with OEM parts.

It will give you enough info to self diagnose, and determine if it's starting to fail.

Depending on how fat / long your arms are.... Put your phone on a selfie stick and lower it into the engine bay. Take some high res close up pics (with the flash on) and compare with the pics on that link

It will. abnormal vibrations and noise is an indicator of imminent failure.

I have found that the diesel and pollen filters are quite often overlooked......probably because they're a bit pricy

DIY Cornel.

Check what the car indicates and do all the filters with oil. Really easy to do and you can reset the service light yourself.

My cousin is bringing some liquid moly, oil filter, diesel filter with from klerksdor now.
Regarding the air filter. I'm looking at some options.
Don't know what's the best to go for.
Cabin filter was changed 13k km ago.

Why do you prefer OEM air filter over a bmc panel filter or k&n panel filter? They can be cleaned.
Does the OEM flow better?

It is claimed that with the reusable filter,that require oil, it sometimes messes up with mass airflow sensors over time.

Certainly true if it's "over oiled"

I've done tons of research and it seems there is a clear split between people praising washable filters (in a range of applications, from everyday, to 4x4 to racing) and people saying it's crap.

The gains arent worth it on the diesel, compared to keeping the air filtered properly.
