e90 LCI 320d Oil Usage

Hi Everyone

My car went for a service 3 months ago. It was due for the oil change service but the oil level was basically on "Min".

Today after filling up I checked the oil. About 6000km since the service.
Again, it was basically on "Min". I checked the oil after the service and the level was about 3/4's between "Min" and "Max".

I drive a little harder than most and do a lot of bumper to bumper driving. I always let the car warm-up before hitting it.

Any ideas? Or normal?

My next question, which might be a stupid one, low oil indicator light... at what stage would this then start coming on?

Thanks.

And now something very weird. I saw the following thread:
http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=61182 and then klapped google and found this:

So I ran to my car to check this out and nothing...... My car doesn't give me the option to check the oil on the DC?

2010 e90 320d LCI. Normal?

My 2008 pre LCI 330d also uses more oil than I am happy with. Needs about half a litre every 2000kms. It is just out of MP now and my first oil change within the next month or so I will be trying 10w40 synthetic oil in place of the 5w30 synthetic to see if it makes a difference. My older 2002 E46 330d does not use oil between services neither did my previous X5 on 230k. My E39 530d did use a bit of oil but it sat on 240k when I sold it. I drive like an old man (I am old) and do not hammer it (except when overtaking). The oil consumption is mainly during long trips at 120 (rev counter on 1900rpms)

Phoned BMW to complain. So the car went in today to have it checked out.
They phoned me and said they did replace two seals or something, so will go check it out and report back.

As far as the Oil Level on the DC.... It seems the Diesels without I-Drive don't have this funciton...:hammerhead:

So turns out the Car was leaking oil by means of a perished gasket in the region of the turbo.....Sorted out now under motor-plan. Smokey smell is almost gone.
