So got it sorted out. Kinda forgot to update the post. The breather valve on my model is build into the tappit covers. Replaced the covers and car was normal again.

2007 E90 323i sport.

Wanted to find out if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Sometimes after driving a bit, when I come to stop the car has poor idling (like a car with a hectic cam) and it whistles (like a screaming pulley)

I have tested it two ways.
1) if you switch the car off and on again then it is all gone and back to normal.

2) while it is idling like a "crazy teef" I pop open the bonnet and then turn the oil cap, then with allot of struggle try to open it completely. What happens then is you can hear it is sucking in allot of air like "one of those galz from Point Road" and then the idling goes back to normal.

Guess it could be an breather filter issue?

Any comments would be appreciated.

I had this issue on my 2010 323i msport, whistling sound randomly when i drive, turn the oil cap and its gone. Turned out to be the pcv valve, which mine was built into the tappet cover, so i ended up replacing the tappet cover(plastic.)

hope this helps

aaah saw the reply now, yup, tappet cover
