Howzit all, if this thread exist please take this of.

Well i was driving my mothers 2007 e90 323i today,as i get to the stop street near my house the car jerked a bit then the revs started to drop and the engine switched off, i waited and after the third try the car started.
I drove of and after about 2000rpm the car is fine and when i got home and the cars revs dropped below 2000rpm it went erratic and cut off.

I started and it kept cutting of when the revs dropt.
Im taking it to Bmw pinetown tomorrow cause they close by and let everyone here know what the problem is

Any ideas on what could be the problem maybe fuel pump or plug:dunno:, car is out of motor plan and on 110 000km

oh yes and the car doesnt lose power its fine above 2000rpm and drives normally

Had a similar problem on a E90 325i.
Car would jerk a bit and revs drop and once you start up it was fine.
When i took the car to BM - they said it was the lamda sensor that was the problem.

Good luck dude.

hi guys ,

i had the same problem on my 06 323i , after 3 visits to the workshop they finally resolved the issue , i bet that if you leav your car for 30mis and then start up again its fine until the nest time ...right ?

anyways it was the VANOS SOLONOID VALVE that need to be replaced.

i havent had a [roblem now for 3months

Hi, also had this problem on a e90 320d. Did a lot of research on this and both posts above are correct and could be the problem. In my case it was a fuel injector that needed to be replaced.

Well guys dropt the car of at Bmw and the charging R544.11 per hour to put it on the diagnostics machine and they will need two hours to run the test.
The reason been that when i took the car there it was fine no problems(funny how this always happen)
Lol i love how the guys at bmw pretend to listen and say yes aha aha and then say well lets put it on the machine and find out IF its doing this, dude i wouldnt lie and say its doing it if it wasn't lol
They said they will contact me tomorrow morning and tell me what the issues are

Thanks for the help guys

I had a similar problem becos mine would only do that when it was cold.
By the time I got to the dealership, I couldn't replicate the problem cos the car was heated up and going nicely.
Hope u get sorted out soon!

I am almost haveing the same problems..with my 320d it starts O/K no probs...But when warm the revs dips from 900 to 800 as if its going to cut out..And when driveing it cuts backs on you as if there is no fuel for a second or so...Chris

I had a similar problem with eratic reving and the car sometimes dying - especially on a hard left turn. Turns out the E90 still has the same problem from 11 years ago that the BMW's had. It's was a design flaw that they are still carrying through. The water relief channels of the car are not beefy enough to withstand a significant influx of water onto the car. especially if there are some leaves and debris which block the inadequate drainage. The result is that the water overflow goes into the ECU housing - stuffing the cars engine management system.

After the recent heavy rains and my car standing outside it exhibited all the same sysmptoms as listed here. BMW opened the plastic housing on the passenger side under the bonnet and the ECU was in 100mm of water, they said I would need a new ECU ordered from Germany at R15000 and 15 working days - Bullshit! for a known BMW design flaw. I ranted and raved and now they are sending it to Cape Town to repair - for R6000. Bottom line is my car will still be in the shop for another week or so. I have contacted my insurance to see if they are willing to cover this

my 325 had the exact same problem, It sat at BMW for 2 weeks on and off trying to fix it.

After they resolved the issue the car felt dead at times where i had to switch off and switch on .Car sat again at bmw for about 4 months on and off. they replaced almost everything besides the motor itself.

Eventually motorplan ran out and they still could not find the issue.
I was told to replace the crankshaft sensor and if that doesn’t work then i had to replace some both on the crankshaft that normally strips and throws the timing off.

timing was done 4 times but still went out again.

nope never got it sorted. Even after hitting a big fuss at bmw, they continued to try and fix the car after motorplan at their expense.

The total cost worked out to R100k plus. i still have the repair bill from the time the problem started. I was trying to sell the car but i eventually cancelled the deal on a private buyer, cut my losses and traded in the car.

Mine is even worse 320i A/T 2010 model, if i stop after reaching 6-7 rpm it goes off when i engage D. but when i start it back it starts normally it only goes off again when i put it on drive, only after several attempts it will drive. BUT once i stop it fails again.
it's dangerous because most of the time it happens at the middle of the robot or stop sign. please help
