And so it has happened to me, got hijacked 6:30 am when i arrived at work 5 june.
My car was recovered 1 & half hour later, when i got to the car it looked ok, apart from a few scratches. Then we unlocked and opened it, outch, most of the interrier was stripped, all the pannels had been ripped out. Hopefully i will have my car back in the next week or so. The repair bill is currently +_ 65k.

I have been considdering to trade it in when i get it back, but i don't think so anymore.
I have been driving with a camry for 3 weeks and a new fiesta for a week now, i also drove my moms e46 318i for a weekend.

I just miss my car , and have not driven anything like it before, my friends and collueges who doesn't have a passion for cars can't understant, " it is just a car ", no it is not!

It is a e90 320d, auto with sportpack suspension, it is not just a car, it is a machine.
It has looks, it has power, it has performance, it has comfort, and it is light on fuel.
This thing has roadholding manners that fellow drivers who don't own a sport sedan
can only dream about, this thing is like jekyll and hide, behaved when it has to, and a monster when it wants to, and i want it back !!

Holly crap....

care to tell us where the "dastardly deed" occurred, so that I can avoid that area at 06h30 in the morning.

I didn't realize that the 320d was on a hijackers shopping list....well not the most popular vehicle to take...I think VW Golf's have that honour, and possibly the Yarris.

I think the reason they trashed the interior was to get at the tracking device, and then they usually abandon it for a while to see if it is "hot", which it obviously was seeing that it was recovered in a short time.

On a personal note, I hope that you are mentally OK...remember there is no shame in going for counseling after this type of event, in fact it might give you coping tools for later on when PTSD sets in.

is there any lessons you might like to share about how to avoid this situation in the future, being alert, changing routine, changing arrival routes, leaving an "out" space for evasive maneuvering ?

glad you are OK....STAY SAFE

any car is on the thieves shopping lists, depends what their buyers want.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. These cars grow on you, I cant stomach the thought of parting with my car, but I doubt in such a ordeal I would want it back.

Really sorry to hear about what happened.
Good thing is that you are ok and that the car can get repaired.

Hope you get her back soon and in excellent condition..

Very glad that you are okay it could have been a lot worse! I was in a robbery with my E90 in the traffic while waiting on an onramp to the hiway and that was enough for me to sell the car immediately and I bought a new one. I could not get into the car looking at the criminal's prints on the windows etc.. Took the car to Bmw to assess window actuator damage, had the car washed and sold it. Loved the car but loved my sanity more! :bangdesk:

Sorry you went through that. I agree with what Ralf said about counselling. Believe me, it helps. Glad you came out unharmed.

Sorry to hear bud.

Very glad to hear you are okay.
And yes counselling will definitely help.

People just dont understand what our cars mean to us. TO most people it is just cars, but its our passion. We simply dont just drive a BMW coz we can, but coz we want to and enjoy every moment we have in our cars.

Probably were after the airbags, I have seen this once before.

Curios to know why they would want the airbags? Any idea?

Wana-be pirates looking for emergency floatation devices?

Jokes aside, glad everything turned out ok and you were unharmed and left alone. Had a similar experience a while back except i was thrown into the boot and taken with.

This is very worrying news... I went to go look at a 2010 320d sportpack last week, halfway through the viewing the dealer admits that the car was high jacked, but also recovered within 24h. I really hope this is not a trend starting?

I am glad you are okay tho...
