Can anyone please tell me what this vent is for above the battery? And what will happen if I cover it with a sealer, thanks

I know what vent you are talking about, but i have no idea what it is for.

Rather just leave it alone

That's the vent, I have a sub in my boot, now im thinking of sealing it as the air is escaping through there so I was just wondering what the consequences would be, thanks for the responses

How much of a difference will it make to your sub by covering up the vent?

I say leave it alone, its was probably designed for a good reason.

can you elaborate how the air is escaping through the vent? do you have a normal box in a sedan or a bandpass box with the port firing into the cabin?

These vents are designed for
1. to allow air to escape out the vehicle and draw in fresh air through the air vents in the front, always making sure that co2 does not build up in a vehicle.
2. allow air to enter the boot area should ever be trapped inside... dont laugh it happens!! even in hijackings.
3. allow fumes from the battery to vent out the car

I have a bandpass box with the port firing into the cabin through the ski hatch, so I suspect that the air from the subs port is going through that vent as the body panels and petrol cap vibrates a lot when I play my music loud on that side and on the other side there is no vibration at all, was just thinking that it might be the reason for that, but judging from the guys responses I think I should not cover it up
