E90 EKP MODULE (fuel pump module)

Good day fanatics, my name is Thulani, I need help with with my E90 323i 2010. I parked my car outside the other afternoon and when I went back to start it it wouldn't, just a long crank. I took the car to be diagnosed and the EKP MODULE was picked up. I was told that I need to replace it and the car must be programmed. I spoke to BMW and they charge an arm and a leg to replace and re-program the car. My question is, would it be ok if I get hold of a second hand module with the same numbers on the sticker, without having to get it re-programmed? Or if there's someone out there who can help me in whichever way, I'll appreciate it. I'm based in JHB.

I have not heard about the EPK module failing so instantly without prior warning.

Were you able to start and drive the car afterwards? Is it still stuck? Did they check the battery, starter etc..?

You can try get hold of Gert of OBD worx. I am sure his contact details will come up if you google.

If you can find a used EPK module thats exactly the same as your model car it will work and you can code it later on.

Morning Twinz, no I was not able to start the car and drive again, I called someone to come with a diagnostic machine which said the problem is the EKP.

The battery and starter are fine, the car just cranks for long then nothing. I have read somewhere online that the EKP does sometimes just pack up without a warning so I guess that's the case with mine.

I was hoping that if I get 1 that's exactly like mine I can skip the coding part but I guess not, thanks for suggesting Gert, I will look him up and give him a call.

Have you checked the block of fuses on the battery terminal?

Might be one of them thats blown.

As above, Gert from OBDWorx is the guy to go to.

The fuses were the first thing that I checked and found nothing wrong.

I spoke to Gert already and he was not able to help me with the EKP, he suggested I get a second hand 1.

Just an update on the problem I had on my E90. My car would not start, just a long crank and the diagnosis said its the EKP module which I changed 3 times, I also changed the fuel pump and crank shaft sensor but still the car wouldn't start. It turns out that the problem was the COMPUTER BOX which had water damage. I'm trying to figure out how the water got in.

Eish

thats a Swak one
Were you able to fix the Box

Water can get in if Box is not sealed properly

Eish tell me about it. No I wasn't able to fix it, I spoke to Gert from OBD WORX who told me that the box can't be fixed so I need to replace it. He said my car has a Siemens box and those cant be fixed, only Bosch can. Do you know if this is true, can you suggest anything? Replacing the box will cost an arm and a leg, I'm sure it will be cheaper to fix it..

Usually the leaves are not cleared regularly on both side of engine bay then the water doesn't drain down, then the computer box gets water in.
My friends 323i also got computer box cooked 2 years ago. Big damage to the pocket.
